Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Project Document Controller, Thermal Project Management, you will be responsible for the management of documentation for thermal power plants. You will provide support across multiple projects and teams inside the organization, from development to the warranty phase after commercial operation date (COD) is achieved. In this position, you will collaborate with other team members to support the project execution, design and construction efforts, while coordinating documentation for all other technical, economic, and commercial aspects of the project. Being part of the project team assigned to a thermal project, you will be responsible for supporting the various project controls tasks,  primarily document management, but also other construction project management system, lessons learned program management, training & onboarding on construction project management system and applications, auditing processes and reports, creating purchase orders, evaluating invoices, doing clerical work and other tasks as directed.  This role will be heavily focused on information integrity within the Thermal Project Management system and ensuring processes within the system follow company standards. This position will be based in the Invenergy office in Chicago, IL. Sporadic travels to the project site to train the site staff on construction project management system and applications, and to ensure construction documentation and as-built packages are complete could also be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts on document management control in the company system, ProjectTeam, for thermal projects.

  • Assist project management, engineering, project controls, and finance groups on several tasks and activities, as required.

  • Setting up and maintaining projects in the construction project management system.

  • Creating and generating reports, analyzing data, identifying potential issues, and proposing solutions to the thermal project management team.

  • Audit contractor reports, document packages, submittals, transmittals and deliverables to ensure compliance with contract, company policies and ProjectTeam requirements.

  • Audit internal processes to ensure compliance with the above.

  • Provide support to the construction management team, as needed. Sporadic support on the construction site could be required.

  • Capture, evaluate, and manage lessons learned through resolution.

  • Support the construction department training and onboarding program.

  • Ensure all records, including as-built packages, are properly saved according to the construction management system.

  • Support the development and maintenance of the Project Management Standard Operating Procedures

  • Support the adherence to internal processes that ensure consistency and quality.

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver training to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Promote good communication and coordination with other departments.

  • Guide and support project management team members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

  • 4+ years of experience with project coordination and management of projects with multiple levels of interface between vendors, internal staff, and other stakeholders.

  • Experience with document management systems.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Construction experience and/or construction internship preferred.

  • Thermal or renewable energy experience and/or internship preferred.

  • Document control and/or process auditing preferred.

  • Experience on ProjectTeam preferred.

Base Pay

$93,000 - 108,000 USD Annual

20-30% Bonus

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
