Quality Engineer

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Quality Engineer at Ophir Optics /MKS Company located in Bucharest, Romania you will partner with MKS Ophir Precision Optics Manufacturing to lead the Quality activities for key customers and internal projects. In this role, you will report to the Quality Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Work closely with the Optical Fabrication team, drive a Culture of Zero-Defect Quality
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives for internal manufacturing processes, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using 8D problem solving methods.
  • Ensure timely resolution of quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.  
  • Implement and maintain SPC methodologies across key manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and process stability.  Work with production and manufacturing engineering teams to analyze process data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.
  • Use SPC insights to proactively address process variations and optimize yield. 
  • Lead and execute process audits to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements and internal quality standards. 
  • Continuously interface with Operations, Engineering, and Production Support teams to implement proactive improvements to quality
  • Lead PFMEA and related control plan activities

Skills You Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, material science, or equivalent discipline
  • 3+ years of QA Engineering experience working in fast paced manufacturing
  • Experience with Quality and Reliability methodologies and tools such as SPC, SFIC, PPAP, 8D, FAI, FMEA, DMAIC, Gage R&R, DFx, DOE, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Comprehensive understanding of ISO 9001-2015 Quality System Standards
  • Understanding of AS 9100 it's a plus
  • Optical drawing notation and specification standard, defining optical component tolerances, material properties and surface quality.
  • Experience with Lean, 6S, zero-defect manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and tools, with focus on continuous improvement

Preferred Skills: (Optional)

  • Experience with optical components fabrication, grinding, polishing, metrology
  • Knowledge of process development with SPC/Minitab/JMP.
