Quality Engineer, Lund

Sweden - Lund Full time

Job Title

Quality Engineer, Lund

Job Description

Is it possible to be part of a startup, but with financial security and benefits from a successful bigger company such as Axis Communications AB? Now it is! Join us as a Quality Engineer at Axis Ex AB in Lund.
Axis Ex AB is a small, ISO-certified production company producing explosion protected products for Axis Communications.

Your future team

Axis Ex AB is the production company for Axis explosion protected products. The products are globally certified for use in hazardous areas, complying with standards such as ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 80079-34, IECEx scheme, ATEX and NRTL.
You will be part of a handful very competent colleagues. The Axis Ex team will grow as we introduce more products to the market. The first Axis produced explosion protected camera was launched in 2022 and there are several more products in our roadmap for the future. In less than a year we will also move to a brand-new facility that is about three times as big as today, presenting exciting new opportunities for Axis Ex!

We are 14 employees within Axis Ex AB today, and we work very closely with many more Axis Group colleagues. In this role you will work very closely with our Production and Quality teams at Axis Ex as well as many Engineering colleagues at Axis Communications.

What you’ll do as Quality Engineer at Axis Ex AB?

We strive to produce high quality explosion protected products. Being a small company, we expect everyone to have a helpful and open-minded approach, take initiatives and support where needed.
These are the main areas we see included in the role, either as primary responsibility or as backup, depending on the candidate:

Supplier Quality Management & Development:

  • Define and maintain quality requirements for our suppliers, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 and explosion protection standards.
  • Conduct risk-based supplier audits and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Manage incoming quality control for critical components, addressing non-conformances effectively.
  • Monitor and report on overall supplier quality performance.

Change & Compliance Control:

  • Evaluate Change Requests against all applicable certifications (ISO, ATEX, IECEx, Country specific adaptations of Ex-standards) and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation and approval workflows for all compliance-critical changes are adhered to.
  • Define and maintain quality controls based on certification drawings and specifications.

Production Quality & Improvement:

  • Monitor and improve quality in production processes (In-Process Quality Control).
  • Initiate and drive quality improvements, performing root cause analysis for deviations.
  • Review and approve production instructions and educate staff on quality methodologies.
  • Ensure calibration routines for tools and equipment are adequate and maintained.

Quality System Support:

  • Support internal audits and compile Production Quality reports monthly.
  • Coordinate and investigate complaints, returns, and internal deviations.

International travel will be needed but to a limited extent.

Who are we looking for?

We believe that you are a quality professional who thrives at the intersection of supplier management, regulatory compliance and production quality control. You have a strong personal drive, enjoy cross-functional collaboration (with suppliers, R&D, and production), and can independently drive projects to completion. You are equally comfortable conducting a supplier audit as evaluating a complex engineering change for compliance impact. You see quality as a mean to improve the business.

We would like you to have:

  • A university degree in Engineering, mechanical, electronics, manufacturing, or similar technical education.
  • Five years’ work experience of quality engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience of Quality Management systems according to ISO 9001.
  • Experience of Ex standards like ISO/IEC 80079-34, ATEX, IECEx is a plus.
  • ISO audit certification or at least hands-on experience from supplier audits.
  • Experience in quality methods and tools, such as Control Plan, RCA, 8D, FMEA, Six Sigma.
  • Genuine interest in working with quality, risk mitigation and improvements.
  • You are analytical and practical. You can write and implement instructions and processes.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Swedish, to clearly articulate both compliance as well as technical requirements.

This role will be located with the rest of the Axis Ex team, today at Maskinvägen 1 in Lund and next year in Brunnshög, Lund.
