THE OPPORTUNITY

With a strong pipeline of exciting projects, Dematic is seeking a Project Quality Engineer to join our team in Belrose.   

In this dynamic role you will support the delivery of complex automated material handling systems across customer‑facing projects. Embedded within project delivery teams, this role ensures quality is planned, executed, and continuously improved across the full project lifecycle, from design and supplier engagement through installation and commissioning.

As a Project Quality Engineer, you will apply your expertise in quality and project management to maintain product reliability, strengthen customer confidence, and foster continuous improvement across customer-facing projects.

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

  • Guide Root Cause Analysis sessions with subject matter experts using methods including Fishbone, 5 Whys, fault-tree analysis.

  • Lead 8D investigations to apply effective corrective and preventive measures

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify root causes and implement practical, balanced improvements

  • Lead and support on-site customer quality audits, identifying risks early and helping teams prevent repeat issues

  • Visit customer sites to evaluate processes, collaborate on improvement strategies, and foster solid working relationships

  • Engage directly with customers to review quality performance, discuss feedback, and align on shared expectations

  • Lead quality initiatives across engineering, R&D, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams through effective cross-functional collaboration

  • Facilitate routine cross-functional discussions to align priorities, remove obstacles, and support timely resolution of quality issues

  • Mentor and support teams in quality standards, lean tools, and continuous improvement, contributing to an open and accountable quality culture

  • Communicate progress through clear, data-informed updates and reports, while maintaining accurate documentation of audits, RCAs, CAPAs, and quality metrics

  • Provide regular updates to management by bringing to bear clear, data-driven reports and presentations on project quality status, open issues, risks, and progress on corrective actions

Tasks and Qualifications:

SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quality Engineering or Project Quality role

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline

  • Experience in project‑based environments, ideally automated material handling, automation, or construction

  • Strong experience with supplier and subcontractor quality management practices

  • Proven root cause analysis capability using tools such as Fishbone, 5 Whys, and 8D, DMAIC, PDCA

  • Familiarity with automated or control systems error‑proofing (poka‑yoke) solutions

  • Quality certifications such as CQE, CRE, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt strongly preferred

  • Strong analytical capability with experience using Minitab, Power BI, Microsoft Office

  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites depending on business needs

  • Effective communicator with the ability to work confidently with customers and cross‑functional teams

  • Demonstrated experience leading productive discussions, building alignment, presenting complex topics in a clear, practical manner

  • Collaborative working style with the ability to build strong relationships across engineering, operations, SMEs, customer teams

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly regarded

  • Australian work rights: PR or  Citizenship, along with a valid Driver’s Licence
