Job Description:
The Quality Control and Assurance Analyst in the Department of Radiology at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center plays a critical role in ensuring that radiology services consistently meet high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for overseeing the performance, efficiency, and reliability of radiology processes and imaging equipment to support accurate diagnoses and protect patient safety. The analyst monitors compliance with internal policies as well as external regulatory requirements established by organizations such as the American College of Radiology (ACR), while also developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control and assurance protocols to ensure consistency in imaging quality and patient care. A portion of the role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to identify trends, inefficiencies, discrepancies, or opportunities for improvement within radiology workflows, and translating that data into meaningful reports and performance metrics for leadership. The analyst supports continuous quality improvement initiatives by conducting audits, addressing workflow or imaging issues, and collaborating closely with radiologists, physicians, and staff to resolve concerns and promote best practices. In addition, the role serves as a liaison between the Department of Radiology and other internal departments, as well as external facilities, to facilitate the transfer of patient imaging and reports for internal reads and comparative analysis. A strong emphasis is placed on patient safety, including adherence to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure for both patients and staff, as well as monitoring patient feedback to identify areas for service improvement. This work is supported through the use of specialized radiology and reporting tools such as Nuance, Vision, IHIS, PowerScribe, PACS, medical imaging software, and data analysis platforms like Excel or Tableau. One of the key challenges of the role is balancing the demand for rapid diagnostic turnaround times with the need to maintain rigorous quality, safety, and compliance standards across all radiology services.
