Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality and Reliability Engineer to lead environmental stress testing, product reliability validation, and failure analysis for PC systems and related hardware. The candidate will drive reliability improvements through DOE, DFx methodologies, and in-depth root cause analysis using 8D across electrical and mechanical domains.  This role is responsible for leading overall reliability program for cross-functional projects and teams, offering guidance to product development architecture teams on reliability test plans, and proactively addressing customer requests related to reliability. The role develops design-for-reliability programs and provides advanced failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective actions for reliability issues across various stages. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams, and actively promotes reliability activities.

Key Responsibilities

Reliability & Validation

  • Develop and execute environmental stress tests (thermal, humidity, vibration, shock, HALT/HASS, etc.)
  • Design product validation plans for PC systems, system boards, and power adapters
  • Conduct reliability studies including MTBF, Weibull analysis, life data analysis, and field return analysis
  • Define reliability requirements and qualification criteria

Design for Reliability (DFR / DFx)

  • Lead DOE (Design of Experiments) for reliability optimization
  • Drive DFx initiatives (DFR, DFM, DFA, DFT) during product development
  • Perform risk assessments including FMEA/FMECA
  • Work closely with design teams to improve product robustness

Failure Analysis & Root Cause

  • Conduct in-depth electrical and mechanical failure analysis
  • Perform board-level and system-level debugging
  • Identify root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Analyze failures in system boards, power adapters, connectors, and critical components
  • Interface with suppliers for component-level failure investigations

Environmental Test Development

  • Develop test protocols for environmental qualification
  • Establish accelerated stress testing methods
  • Correlate lab test results with field reliability performance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in product reliability engineering (PCs or similar electronic systems preferred)
  • Strong hands-on experience in environmental stress testing
  • Proficiency in DOE, reliability modeling, and statistical tools
  • Deep understanding of system boards, power electronics, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Experience in failure analysis techniques (microscopy, X-ray, cross-sectioning, thermal imaging, etc.)
  • Knowledge of reliability standards (JEDEC, IEC, MIL-STD preferred)

Technical Skills

  • Reliability prediction and life testing methodologies
  • Weibull analysis & statistical reliability tools (JMP, Minitab, Reliasoft, etc.)
  • Root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis)
  • Environmental test chambers and instrumentation
  • Electrical debugging and schematic analysis
  • Component derating and stress analysis
