Job Description:
The Fab28 Quality and Reliability Engineer (QRE) role is an opportunity to be part of Intel's Foundry Quality Reliability and Labs (FQRL) organization, governing quality and reliability across technology development, manufacturing, product development, and test.
In this role, you will support Fab28 manufacturing operations while working closely with factory engineering, TD, product divisions, Assembly/Test, and FQRL partners to ensure that all material leaving Fab28 meets Intel's expectations for quality and long-term reliability.
The role requires strong technical expertise and cross functional collaboration. In addition, due to the customer first nature of QRE work, the position demands a deep sense of responsibility for affected silicon, full transparency in communication, and the ability to make timely decisions to prevent customer impact and protect Intel's brand. These expectations are integral to the QRE job and embedded throughout the responsibilities and qualifications below.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop, apply, and maintain quality and reliability standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
• Evaluate materials and processes technology to ensure compliance with product quality and reliability requirements.
• Specify testing mechanisms and perform statistical analysis and reliability risk assessment based on reliability models and goals to determine ownership and resolution of non conforming materials.
• Deliver standardization in product qualification, manufacturing quality systems, and methods.
• Provide feedback to TD and partner engineering groups on methodology and statistical process control procedures used in HVM.
• Determine reliability requirements and automated screening methodologies to achieve company, customer, and regulatory reliability objectives.
• Develop new acceleration techniques, analytical tools, and quality screens to ensure early identification of potential issues with products, packaging, processes, and reliability.
• Respond to customer requests or quality events as they occur and ensure clear, transparent communication with stakeholders.
• Recommend design or process changes to improve system, process, and product reliability.
• Ownership of fab technology certification and readiness activities for introduction of new technologies into Fab28, supporting robust quality, reliability, and early detection/containment capabilities.
• Exercise strong ownership for affected silicon, making informed and timely disposition decisions while minimizing customer risk.
• Partner in creating CIP (Continuous Improvement Plans) and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) for major events
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor/MSc/PhD degree in engineering, Physics or Chemistry.
• Experience in process engineering or related engineering discipline, from industry or academic experience.
• Strong foundation in engineering principles and statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis for data interpretation, trend identification, and decision making.
• Keen interest in semiconductor physics and solid understanding of engineering concepts.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Deep technology knowledge including inline and EOL parametric.
• SORT knowledge and reliability-based knowledge - an advantage.
• Deep Responsibility and Ownership: Demonstrated accountability for product quality and material disposition while ensuring zero customer impact.
• Transparency: Ability to clearly communicate risks, findings, and decisions across all levels of the organization.
• Decision Making Under Pressure: Capability to make difficult, time critical decisions to protect customers and factory output.
• Creative Problem Solving: Ability to identify and solve complex quality and reliability problems.
• Risk Assessment and Management: Ability to assess risks associated with product quality and reliability.
• Systems Thinking: Understanding of interactions across processes and systems affecting quality.
• Influential Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to drive change and alignment.
• Cross Disciplinary Knowledge: Ability to integrate insights across engineering
