Summary:

The post holder will work as part of the Quality Control team to manage the analytical laboratory facility. Taking ownership for the efficient running of the Analytical Laboratory ensuring it fulfils the requirements of regulatory bodies, customers and other departments within the Company. Supporting all equipment IOPQ activities, introduction of new laboratory equipment and software applications.

This role is responsible for all aspects of the analytical laboratory (product and raw materials testing and release, non-routine testing, documentation review, methods validation, housekeeping, reagents preparation, stock take and ordering etc). There will be interaction with internal and external stakeholders to advise in analytical chemistry. Part of this role will be to support/cover duties in QC laboratory in regards to testing, release of the final product and raw materials, documentation review, housekeeping, sampling, reagent preparation etc and will involve working closely with the onsite Validation Specialist.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Full responsibility for analytical laboratory - Operate and manage the Analytical laboratory in compliance with Momentive safety policy and cGMP.         (Responsible for all equipment running, maintenance, calibration, support validation and performance qualification. Performing all analytical tests HPLC, GC, TGA, UV etc. Analytical lab stock take, ordering, reagent preparation etc).
  • Plan and implement an Analytical testing strategy to support the delivery of cyclics testing.
  • Responsible for testing and release of the final product, in process, stability samples and raw materials and non-routine sample/product testing.
  • Representing analytical laboratory during customers and regulatory audits, visits, meetings (good knowledge of ISO, FDA, MHRA audits requirements).
  • Responsible for development of new methods and continuous improvement of existing methodology. Performing methods validation (methods development, validation and method efficiency, procedures writing).
  • Prepare and review technical documentations, SOPs and policies.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to the required standards (GMP and ICH guidelines).
  • Providing all require training for other staff members in analytical chemistry and QC area.
  • Involvement in customers complaints and any products related issues regarding analytical chemistry, problem solving, RCAs.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good Laboratory Practice – experience of working in a laboratory environment.
  • GMP experience (working in pharma environment)
  • Ability to understand principles of laboratory methods/products validation process, planning and execution
  • Computer literacy
  • Degree / Post Grad qualified in Analytical Chemistry or a similar subject
  • Good “wet chemistry” experience           
  • Extensive experience in analytical testing
  • In depth practical knowledge of most analytical techniques (e.g. U/HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-VIS, KF and TGA)
  • Experience in method development and validation within the pharmaceutical industry or regulated industry. Knowledge of GMP & GLP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some project management abilities to be able to deliver quality projects/validation etc. on time without compromising a daily responsibility
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma
  • Ability to write technical reports, validation reports, communicate with customers, lead analytical projects.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations such as COSHH
  • Being able to efficiently communicate with customers in analytical related issues.
