We have an excellent opportunity to join our Vision Care team in a Part Time role as Purchasing and Warehouse Officer. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for supporting both purchasing and warehouse functions. The officer ensures seamless procurement of all materials and supplies required for the operation of the Cut Edge and Fit facilities across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring strict compliance with Australian Standards, operational specifications, and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations. This position also delivers purchasing and freight services to other ZEISS Vision Care functions within the Adelaide facility and provides essential support for warehouse operations, including goods receipt and dispatch activities at the Tonsley site.

Key responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Procurement Responsibilities.
  • Procure materials necessary to maintain Rx Lab operations.
  • Ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are provided for all purchased chemicals and are accessible in the Chem-Watch system.
  • Complete Waste Transport Certificates as required prior to the disposal of chemicals or materials.
  • The company is committed to environmental sustainability, promote environmentally friendly practices, such as recycling packaging materials and reducing energy consumption in warehouse operations.
  • Provide support for procurement activities for ZEISS T&I upon request.
  • Approve invoice payments and allocate costs to the appropriate cost centres.
     
  • Inventory and Support Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct periodic inventory audits to identify discrepancies and improve inventory control processes.
  • Keep detailed records of daily store requisitions.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing team to ensure timely delivery of Point-of-Sale (POS) materials, enhancing customer satisfaction and overseeing back-office functions of the ZEISS Partner Program.
     
  • Receiving and Shipping Responsibilities:
  • Receive, inspect, and verify daily deliveries.
  • Operate reach trucks or forklifts to unload and load vehicles for deliveries as required.
  • Arrange and prepare local, interstate, and international freight for all Australian-based Vision care functions, as requested.
  • Prepare consignment documentation and coordinate the dispatch of marketing materials.
  • Monitor daily Rx lens consignments from the ZEISS global supply chain and liaise with freight forwarders as needed.
  • Provide feedback on customs and freight inquiries.
  • Archive shipment files, including lenses, goods, and RCs.
  • Review freight forwarder invoices to ensure accuracy and allocate charges to the appropriate cost centres.
  • Identify inefficiencies in warehouse workflows and recommend process improvements.
     
  • Order Fulfillment Responsibilities:
  • Process and complete customer orders, including picking, packing, and labelling items for shipment.
     

Key skills required for this role include:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse operations and/or equipment support (preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and remote support tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to workplace health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25kg).
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods.
  • Strong networking and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, SAP experience would be beneficial.
