The Role:

The Publications Manager is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and execution of the daily activities required to support CSL Seqirus vaccine manuscripts, abstracts and posters. These deliverables aim to address our scientific and medical communication needs, globally, regionally and within countries.

The Publications Manager will strategically inform the global medical publication plan, collaborating within Medical Affairs (GMS & CORE) and cross functionally with Research and Clinical Development.

The Publications Manager will coordinate and track key scientific/medical materials to ensure alignment with our global Medical Strategic Drivers. You will report to the Director of Publications.

Key Responsibilities:

Publication Planning & Execution

  • Develop and manage publication plans aligned with CSL medical objectives.
  • Support Lead the process of executing Manuscripts, Abstracts and Posters, and Oral Presentations ensuring their completion is in accordance with Good Publication Practice (GPP); facilitate Team calls to review progress of manuscripts and congress planning.
  • Arrange for medical writing support once publication plan is recognized. Ensure that the vendor selected is trained on internal policies, GPP Guidelines, internal compliance requirements and authorship criteria.
  • Develop authorship agreements and confirm authorship aligns with ICMJE guidelines.
  • Support internal authors in manuscript submission for internal review including manuscripts (primary and secondary), abstracts and posters.
  • Ensure the Disclosure review committee is informed, and the approval process is completed before submission to journals and congresses.

Publications Strategy

  • Communicate cross functionally the relevant scientific publications in the literature to aid in development of CSL Seqirus publications and assist in strategic publication decision making.
  • Provide cross-functional communication and collaboration on ongoing publication projects and project updates with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Publication Communication and Vaccine Competency

  • Maintain up to date tracking and reporting of publications planning and development. Ensure status of upcoming publications is documented, working closely with the Publications team, Medical Affairs and cross functionally as needed.
  • Ensure regular accurate and relevant updates to the Publication trackers via dashboards, publication repository and slide decks.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with CSL Library experts to monitor the scientific literature, identify, and highlight key influenza and related publications ensuring up to date knowledge on influenza and other respiratory viruses and their associated vaccines.

Project and Vendor Management

  • Investigate and identify systems that simplify processes, tasks and documentation while ensuring accessibility of documents to the Medical Affairs team.
  • Proficient at publication management systems such as Pubshub PMSolution, Knowledge Manager, and Journals and Congresses
  • Support the Publications Senior Manager in evaluating the feasibility of system enhancements that streamline complicated work processes in the publications arena.
  • Maintain vendor relationships including medical writing, competitor surveillance for of the scientific literature, project management and other publications support activities

Minimum Requirements:

  • A background in science with an advanced scientific degree (e.g. MS, PharmD, PHD, MD) is preferred.
  • 2 - 5 years of professional experience in relevant scientific field with a minimum of 2 years in pharmaceutical industry. Prior experience or exposure to the role, in the Pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience with utilizing the following applications and systems: Teleconference & WebEx Services, SharePoint, SmartSheet or PowerBI dashboard analytics.
  • Knowledge of business management processes, vaccine development processes and Good Publication Practice (GPP) Guidelines.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to develop collaborative relationships and work with all levels of management.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task and work autonomously as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in effectively managing consultants and vendors.

The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $143,000 – $169,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, total compensation for this role may also include incentive compensation.
