About the Function:

The Corporate Relations function carries a broad scope of accountability, notably in the following areas: trade and public policy; taxes; regulation and broader alcohol in society issues; ensuring marketing freedoms, community care and re-investment, and internal and external communications, all under the broader title of protecting and building Diageo’s reputation.

Purpose of the Role

  • Support the development and execution of the company’s Public Policy strategy across key CCV markets. This includes supervising alcohol-related policy developments, generating insights on political and regulatory trends, supporting customer engagement, and chipping in to advocacy efforts that help protect and enable the business.

  • The role also leads key regional policy processes, promotes operational perfection, and ensures the detailed execution of the public policy strategy. As a trusted partner to internal collaborators, the analyst provides high-quality analysis, insights, and strategic recommendations to inform decision-making and enhance the company’s reputation and influence across the region.

Leadership Responsibility

  • Own the planning, coordination, and execution of regional public policy key processes and projects, ensuring alignment with global and regional priorities (e.g., policy risk matrix, integrated collaborator mapping, etc.).

  • Drive operational perfection by developing and implementing efficient public policy processes, tools, and guidelines to enhance impact and effectiveness.

  • In coordination with the CCV Corporate Relations Head and the CCV Public Policy Manager, represent the company in industry associations, policy forums, and collaborator engagements, reinforcing our positions and credibility as needed.

  • Proactively identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities in alcohol policy—particularly within the ESG and Alcohol & Health spaces across CCV—providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Foster effective and efficient collaboration with global and regional Corporate Affairs teams—especially Policy & ESG—to ensure public policy strategy is fully aligned with the company’s global strategic vision.

Key deliverables

  • Develop and adapt timely, global policy analyses, reports, and position papers tailored to the specific contexts of CCV markets, as needed.

  • Establish and maintain effective rhythms and routines to ensure comprehensive and up-to-date collaborator mapping across CCV’s key markets, encompassing government, industry, and civil society actors.

  • In coordination with the CCV Corporate Relations Head and the CCV Public Policy Manager, ensure the seamless execution of strategic policy campaigns and advocacy initiatives across the region.

  • Regularly supervise and report on the progress and impact of public policy projects against definebenchmarksIs, in alignment with global and regional public policy methodologies and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in law, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Corporate Communications, Economics, or related field; master’s degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in public policy, government affairs, or related roles, preferably with regional exposure in the Caribbean, Central America, and Venezuela.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects with operational rigor and attention to detail.

  • Strong understanding of political, economic, and regulatory landscapes in the region.

  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and communication skills in English and Spanish.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse collaborators, including government officials, industry leaders, and NGOs.

  • High level of integrity, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity.
