The Protective Security Manager is a senior security manager with oversight of Security practitioners responsible for Service Stream Protective Security Operations on Defence sites nationally within Australia.
The Protective Security Manager also provides redundancy for the Service Stream Chief Security Officer in addition to ensuring compliance with the following key security policies by Service Stream in the context of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP):
● The Commonwealth Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
● The Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF), and
● The Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
The Protective Security Manager ensures that Physical Security certification and accreditation is obtained and maintained for any Defence Government Furnished Facilities provided to Service Stream under the Base Services (PAS) contract in addition to other corporate locations which Defence information is held, or work is conducted in accordance with the DISP.
The Protective Security Manager is also responsible for implementing Personnel Security, Protective Security Governance and Information Security for Defence information working in partnership with the Cyber Security team.
Ensure that security procedures, planning, and processes for the Defence contract align to DISP requirements.
● Manage a national team providing Protective Security services including Physical Security, Personnel Security, Defence Information Security, and Security Governance.
● Provide guidance and advice on complex matters of Protective Security and train and mentor other staff on all elements of Protective Security including but not limited to:
- Implement the Insider Threat Program within an operational context
- Design and delivery of Protective Security education and awareness programs
- Design and delivery of security accredited facilities
- Security Management Plans including VIP and High-Risk Visits
- SAFEBASE (heightened alert) Plans including security drills and exercises and integration of Service Stream’s Security arrangements into Base Security planning and exercises
- Conduct liaison and coordination with Defence and Base Security operational bodies and Agencies
- As required by the CSO, conduct liaison with law enforcement agencies in various jurisdictions and Intelligence Agencies
● Prepare and finalise technical reviews and reports, security policies, procedures, and processes
● Ensure continuous improvement in security risks, controls, policies, and procedures
● As part of the Security team, ensure collaboration and participate in team knowledge sharing
