This role offers a unique opportunity to combine creativity and hands-on technical skills with direct patient care. The position encompasses the full scope of technical prosthetic and orthotic work, ranging from basic repairs and adjustments through to the fabrication of complex prosthetic and orthotic devices.
Fabricate, assemble and repair prosthetic and orthotic devices, and undertake associated technical tasks, in collaboration with Prosthetists/Orthotists and the technical team
Assist in the day-to-day management of the Prosthetic and Orthotic workshop to ensure a safe, effective and well-organised working environment
Manage relationships with external suppliers, including monitoring pricing changes and emerging technologies
Communicate directly with patients to support fabrication planning and to confirm satisfaction with completed devices
On-the-job training will be provided. Industry-specific experience is not required; however, demonstrated experience using tools and working with hands-on fabrication will be highly regarded.
This position is classified within range T021 – ON37 ($69,841.20 - $81,572.40) per annum.
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or equivalent
Current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain
Strong ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work within agreed timeframes

The Prosthetic and Orthotic Department at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) is primarily based at the Fitzroy campus and also delivers outpatient services at St George’s Health Service (SGHS) in Kew. The department provides a comprehensive range of prosthetic and orthotic services across acute, subacute, outpatient and community settings.
