Our team is currently hiring for a Mid-Level (Level 3) Propulsion Fuels Systems Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead integration of propulsion/fuels changes with other airplane systems and develop design solutions to support product improvements.
Maintain Boeing design oversight for supplier‑provided fuel system components and review/approve supplier drawings, engineering change proposals, and configuration updates.
Engage suppliers to define, plan, and execute qualification testing and to manage supplier‑initiated design modifications.
Manage Boeing Specification Control Document (SCD) requirements, including revisions and new SCD development as needed.
Provide on‑site factory and delivery support in North Charleston, troubleshooting fuel system issues on the production line, supporting production holds, pre‑delivery inspections, and delivery acceptance activities.
Investigate and resolve fleet, production, and supplier issues (Service Requests, Notices of Escape, Non‑Conformances, Engineering Liaison Requests, Change Notices, etc.) to maintain production flow and delivery schedules.
Coordinate, develop, and publish test plans, procedures, and reports; perform analysis using test, certification, and production data to support timely dispositions.
Support safety, compliance, and airworthiness investigations and create/update system safety analyses and airworthiness limitations for the 787.
Coordinate across internal partners (EME, RM&T, ASE, Structures/Stress, Flight Test, Service Engineering, Production, Ground Ops, Regulatory Administration, etc.) to meet project goals and aircraft delivery milestones.
Communicate project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to Propulsion and Program leadership and represent Boeing professionally with suppliers, delivery teams, and external partners.
Able to work under general supervision and self-direct work based on needs of customers, product, and stakeholders.
Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability to understand complex problems.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
2+ years of experience working in an engineering discipline application
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
3+ years of experience in Propulsion Engineering
Knowledge of airplane safety and certification is preferred
Knowledge of airplane fuels systems and architecture
Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects
Experience working COSP process is preferred
Strong project and time management skills; Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects in support of key milestones and aircraft delivery schedules
Excellent communication skills; Ability to clearly communicate complex scenarios with internal and external Leaders and technical SMEs
Familiar with ENOVIA, CSDT, REDARS, ETAC, IVX, IVT, CATIA (PDM a plus)
Familiar with establishing RCCAs / BPSMs / fault trees / cause maps
Able to represent the company professionally in demanding environments
Able to work effectively with the entire value stream to accomplish desired results
Able to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
Able to independently develop innovative solutions that meet business targets
Involvement with SCD Qualification Programs and Equipment Management is desired but not required
Understanding of large transport category aircraft certification process is preferred
Familiarity with CFR 25.981 and/or 25.1309 is preferred
