Purpose of Job:
The purpose of the Project Officer will be Implementation of WASH interventions at the camp level. Liaison with the CIC office and WASH sector and other stakeholders including UN and INGOs. Ensure Documentation and reporting timely manner.
Key Deliverables:
Engineering Design: Conduct technical surveys and design robust water supply systems, including boreholes, gravity-fed systems, solar water network stations, and distribution networks.
Technical Calculations: Perform hydraulic modelling and structural analysis for water storage tanks, piping, and treatment facilities.
Project Oversight: Supervise construction sites to ensure contractors adhere to engineering specifications, safety protocols, and quality standards, quality Goods etc.
Water Quality Management: Implement field level water quality testing protocols (biological and chemical) and design appropriate treatment solutions (chlorination, filtration, etc.).
Resource Management: Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs), technical drawings, and procurement plans for all Wash related infrastructure.
Community Engagement: Work with local water committees to ensure the long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) of installed systems.
Key Accountabilities :
Technical Support: (Apply guidance and standards)
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D ,3D and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., EPANET, Water GEMS). Strong understanding of soil mechanics and structural integrity for water-retaining structures.
Follow up technical standard of WASH sector guide line.
Field base water quality test operation and collaborate with sector.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in water infrastructure projects, preferably in the WASH sector.
Field Readiness: Ability to work in remote or challenging environments and manage logistics for construction materials
Field Support & Monitoring:
Ensure WASH sector policy and standards (including mainstreaming) are maintained in implementation and WASH volunteers field support.
Regular Monitor the WASH activities collaboration with Technical team by ensuring WASH Sector policy and Standard.
Support Hygiene activities of WASH and provide necessary assistance and guidance in terms of advocacy and coordination.
Support WASH Partners with their challenges and develop mechanisms for the exchange of experiences between camps/actors (including field visits).
Meeting & Reporting:
Ensure that the WASH Program Manager of critical field issues.
Project performance and relevant data documented properly and required reports delivered on time( Monthly activities update report to PM
He/She will represent in the Camp level multi-sectoral coordination meetings.
All meeting minutes document developed, and reviews case studies conducted;
Educational Qualifications: B.Sc Engineer in Civil
Knowledge & Skills:
Familiarity with the issues around water, sanitation and hygiene related issues and behaviours.
Familiarity with protection issues in WASH, gender & Inclusion in WASH and accountability to affected persons programming
Familiarities of using KoBO/other online survey tools and methods of data collection.
Have knowledge on problem solving capacity and willing to work with other social structures.
Have knowledge on FD7 and support to the partner to get recommendation of CIC.
Excellent coordination capacity with individuals, community group representatives, NGOs, WASH officers, and government officials.
Knowledge of the UN system and the humanitarian community.
Excellent spoken and written Bangla and English.
Must be ready to work in a multi-cultural environment
Appropriate communication skill and approachable
Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina.
Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment.
Basic computer literacy using of Microsoft Office Microsoft Word, Excel & MS Power Point.
Experience: 5 years relevant experience, at least 3 years in the humanitarian settings.
Work Environment: Must be able to do multiple tasks and willingness to work in the Island at Bhasanchar.
