Overview

The Senior Project Manager – Convention and Event Services performs complex advanced and high-level project management, oversight, and supervision for all Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) Master Plan related activities to ensure safety, security, and operational efficiency of the project.

Essential Functions

1 Performs extensive and complex project management for all components of the KBHCCD Master Plan under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director, indirect supervision of the Convention and Event Services Director, and in coordination with the contracted Project Manager/Owner’s Representative.

2 Coordinates short-, mid-, and long-term goals and plans; develops and/or approves project schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; directs evaluation activities; oversees the preparation of management and productivity reports and studies; and oversees special investigations, internal audits, and research studies.

3 Works with the Assistant Director, Director, and the contracted Project Manager/Owner’s Representative to analyze, evaluate, and ensure project goals are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity.

4 Oversees the preparation of and evaluates, implements, and administers the related department budget; and oversees the planning, development, and operation of special projects or maintenance operations.

5 Communicates, collaborates, and closely works with various managers, contractors, and other vendors to determine construction issues and project impact each of the KBHCCD Master Plan components.

6 Manages and facilitates the procurement process for each component of the Master Plan.

7 Represents the department at meetings and other high-level conferences; assists and provides high-level support in the event of emergencies and other situations.

8 Performs all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of City operations, policies and procedures, and the Convention and Event Services portfolio.

2 Knowledge of large-scale project management practices, principles, and standards.

3 Ability to develop holistic strategic goals and short, mid-range, and long-term plans.

4 Ability to delegate, supervise, manage, and direct large scale maintenance operations, including multiple managers, crews, ad personnel.

5 Ability to develop and implement short- and long-range plans, maintenance protocols, and operational efficiencies.

6 Ability to review, implement, and track a budget strategically and effectively.

7 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of people.

8 Knowledge of Applicable laws, standards, and regulations related to construction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Science, Engineering, or Projects or Construction Management field.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Seven (7) years of project management experience.


AND

  • Two (2) years of experience supervising or managing a project.


EQUIVALENCIES:                             

  • High school diploma or GED plus eleven (11) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • An associate degree in any field plus nine (9) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specified field plus nine (9) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A master's degree or higher in a specified field plus five (5) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.


LICENSE:

  • Valid Driver's License with good driving record.

PREFERENCE:

  • Professional engineer or architect license preferred.

  • Project Management certification, LEAN or Six Sigma highly preferred.



Salary Range

 

$85,176.00 - $106,475.20
