This position is part of Novanta’s Advanced Surgery business unit. Specialized in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine, WOM develops devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. We produce Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing that makes diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Our insufflators and pump systems dilate cavities in the body and turn previously complicated surgeries into minor procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead our Advanced Surgical Fluid & Flow NPI projects as part of our platform project initiatives. This role is responsible for driving cross-functional execution, managing technical and operational deliverables, and ensuring alignment with strategic program goals. The Project Manager will serve as the central point of coordination across engineering, supply chain, regulatory, and OEM stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of all project milestones.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end execution of large-scale projects for product development (NPI), ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget across all development phases
Create and monitor project plans including milestone timelines, COGS, project costs, and NREs
Guide the project team through the individual development phases in compliance with Novanta’s Design Control Process
Align and coordinate shared resources within a global organization
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration through structured sprint planning, Obeya style meetings, and milestone fidelity reviews
Manage risk mitigation strategies, including resource planning, cost reduction opportunities, and contingency actions for technical challenges
Drive project financial tracking through cost forecasting, variance analysis, and alignment with program-level targets
Coordinate with OEM customers and internal stakeholders to ensure products are developed in compliance with regulatory and quality standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging PMP tools, Kaizen methodologies, and agile workflows
Provide clear and consistent communication to leadership and team members, ensuring transparency and accountability
General Tasks
Implementation of departmental and product group strategy
Coordination with other project managers on processes, interfaces and cross-functional tasks
Active participation in the innovation process & continuous improvement
Strict compliance with quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.
Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; PMP certification and/or MBA are a plus.
5+ years of experience managing complex, technical projects, preferably in medical device or similar regulated industries
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results in a matrixed environment
Strong proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, PMP).
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel globally (Czech Republic, US) periodically. Up to 20%.
