This position is part of Novanta’s Advanced Surgery business unit. Specializing in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine, Advanced Surgery develops devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. We produce Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing that makes diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Our insufflators and pump systems dilate cavities in the body and turn previously complicated surgeries into minor procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to be part of the Project Management Office Team. This role is responsible for driving process improvement, leveraging Lean / NGS tools values accross-functions. The Project Manager will serve as the central point of coordination across different AS Teams to solve problems, deliver projects, create productivity initiatives and any activities that will help AS to deliver the growth and engagement strategy in place..

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify what problems we are trying to solve (PSP), create project plan and lead the end-to-end execution of the projects, ensuring adherence to the scope and to the processes in place, schedule, and budget across all development phases
  • Guide the project team through the individual development phases leveraging Novanta’s Growth System
  • Align and coordinate shared resources within a global organization
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration through Obeya style meetings, and milestone fidelity reviews
  • Support other project team (R&D, S&M..) to manage risk mitigation strategies, including resource planning, cost reduction opportunities, and contingency actions for technical challenges for their own projects.
  • Drive project financial tracking through cost forecasting, variance analysis, and alignment with program-level targets
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging NGS tools (PSP, PMP, DM, TPI, Kaizen events …)
  • Provide clear and consistent communication to leadership and team members, ensuring transparency and accountability

General Tasks

  • Implementation of Advanced Surgery strategy
  • Coordination with other project managers on processes, interfaces and cross-functional tasks
  • Active participation in the innovation process & continuous improvement
  • Strict compliance with quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, or related field; PMP certification and/or MBA are a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience managing complex, technical projects, preferably in medical device or similar regulated industries  
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results in a matrixed environment
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, PMP).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and other Lean Tools.

Travel Requirements           

  • Willingness to travel globally (USA, Germany, Czech Republic) periodically. Up to 20%.
