Project Manager

Amentum is currently seeking qualified candidates to serve as Project Manager to support the U.S. Army at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, MI. This position will be on-site daily, and travel (15-20%) may be required. This position is currently in office daily. The ideal candidate for this role would be an experienced Project Manager with background acquisitions, ground combat platforms, exercise/event planning, familiarity with media relations., and excellent communication skills.  Other duties may be assigned to support client and contract deliverables. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Review, analyze, and synthesize Congressional, Department of War, Department of the Army, and other stakeholder communications.  
  • Formulate internal communication themes and messaging to ensure consistent, mission-focused information flow within the organization. 
  • Assist in the planning coordination and execution of capability demonstrations, testing, evaluations, training events and other media related events tied to operational tests. Duties may include assisting in the drafting of whitepapers, information papers, responses to industry and media inquiries, press releases; coordinating with program principals; securing venues; developing talking points for key stakeholders and key messages; staffing messages with principals. 
  • Oversee the planning, development, and production of training, testing, and other related products using various forms of media, including photographs, graphics, video products, and digital content to communicate with stakeholders.  
  • Assist key stakeholders in responding to taskers, RFIs, and other inquiries to develop accurate and timely responses in support of stakeholder decisions.  
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive communication plans that align with the organization's mission to deliver integrated future capabilities to the warfighter. 
  • Serve as the principal advisor to senior Army leadership, drafting high-level briefings, communications, information papers, and whitepapers. 
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with a broad ecosystem of internal and external stakeholders, including military leadership, defense industry partners, and international allies. 
  • Develop and implement comprehensive, multi-channel communication plans aligned with Army priorities and mission goals. 
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CPE (a two-star General or civilian equivalent), drafting high-level communications, reporting, and briefings for senior Department of War (DoW) officials. 
  • Translate highly technical acquisition data—including sensor technologies, interceptors, and battle management systems—into digestible, policy-compliant content for external and internal audiences. 
  • Assist in the development of documents, reporting, and other communications related to program performance, national security issues, or reputational threats. 
  • Coordinate external engagements and facilitate site visits for key stakeholders. 
  • Review and edit artifacts supporting Congressional requests for information (RFIs), information papers, and hearing testimony. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5-15 years of experience in project management with additional experience related to strategic communications, public affairs, or media relations, preferably within the Dept of War or a federal acquisition environment. 
  • Proven ability to work independently and solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with personnel at all levels, from junior soldiers to senior leaders and corporate executives. 
  • A thorough understanding of Army logistical and maintenance support structures. 
  • Must have a high level of organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to travel as required. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Must be able to maintain and obtain a US Government Secret Clearance. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. This position will be able to start employment with an Interim Secret Clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Senior staff officer with the U.S. Army with time served at an 0-5 command or higher. 

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, public relations, or strategic communication. 

Familiarity with the Army's acquisition and modernization processes. 

       

Compensation Details:

$120K to $230K
