The Opportunity
This position works in the Diabetes Care Division. We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology. As the Project Manager, Digital Operations you will lead the technical and financial operations of large-scale cloud environments and SaaS platforms supporting ADC’s digital products. In this role you will apply engineering principles, such as workload architecture, performance optimization, automation, and platform observability, to ensure that cloud services, APIs, developer platforms, and AI workloads are delivered efficiently, reliably, and within defined budget envelopes. You will also manage end-to-end cloud optimization initiatives, implements FinOps engineering practices, and collaborates with product, engineering, SRE, DevEx, and architecture teams to drive cost-efficient scalability across the Digital Solutions Group.
What You’ll Do
Cloud Architecture, FinOps Engineering & Optimization.
Design, implement, and operationalize FinOps engineering practices across AWS/GCP environments, aligning cost models with actual workload architectures and scaling patterns.
Develop and maintain technical consumption models (cost-per-API, cost-per-feature, cost-per-tenant, workload heat mapping) to guide architecture and product decisions.
Use engineering techniques (right-sizing, autoscaling policies, storage tiering, reserved/spot capacity planning) to optimize cloud performance and cost.
Analyze system architecture to identify inefficiencies and propose redesigns that improve reliability, scalability, and margin.
Technical Planning & Execution
Build operational plans integrating architectural constraints, cloud resource requirements, performance metrics, and cost budgets.
Monitor cloud and SaaS consumption through engineering telemetry tools; detect anomalies and lead root cause analysis with SRE/Platform teams.
Implement automation (IaC, CI/CD insights, serverless triggers, AI-driven anomaly detection) to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy of forecasting.
Resource Engineering & Vendor Technology Coordination
Identify and secure technical resources (compute, storage, networking, ML infrastructure) required to run digital workloads reliably and efficiently.
Evaluate SaaS tools and cloud services for architectural fit, scalability, and performance efficiency; contribute technical input during vendor selection and renewals.
Work closely with Procurement and Architecture to align technical design, licensing models, and multi-year cloud commitments.
Technical Budgeting, Forecasting & Visibility
Translate engineering roadmaps into cloud capacity plans and cost projections.
Forecast usage of platform components, APIs, analytics, and AI workloads; provide variance analysis using telemetry and performance data.
Produce engineering dashboards combining financial signals with system metrics (latency, throughput, SLO compliance, scaling curves).
Cross-Functional Technical Collaboration
Partner with Software Engineering, Digital Platform, Architecture/DevEx, and Digital Operations to align technical designs with performance and cost targets.
Communicate complex technical cost drivers in a simplified way for stakeholders and leadership.
Lead engineering reviews focused on cloud efficiency, workload placement, and architectural trade-offs.
Coaching & Capability Building
Mentor engineering squads on cloud cost awareness, performance engineering, and scalable design patterns.
Promote FinOps engineering best practices across the organization, enabling teams to build cost-efficient, high-performance digital systems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
Seven plus years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or FinOps engineering within large-scale distributed systems.
Hands-on expertise with AWS and/or GCP architectures, including compute, serverless, containers, storage, networking, identity, and managed services.
Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers from an engineering perspective, including workload placement, autoscaling patterns, caching layers, data lifecycle, API design, and observability.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD systems to implement automated cost and performance controls.
Ability to analyze and optimize system architectures using telemetry, logs, profiling tools, and cloud-native monitoring solutions.
Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar) to build automation, reporting pipelines, and optimization tooling.
Experience evaluating SaaS and cloud vendor technologies for scalability, reliability, security, and architectural fit.
Strong analytical and modeling skills, able to translate technical workloads into accurate forecasts and consumption models.
Excellent collaboration skills, working closely with backend, SRE, platform, architecture, and product engineering teams.
Ability to present complex technical and financial insights in clear, actionable narratives for both engineering and leadership audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred technical certifications:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer
GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Cloud DevOps Engineer
FinOps Certified Practitioner or Advanced Practitioner
CKA or CKAD (Kubernetes certifications)
Terraform Associate Certification
Additional useful credentials:
Certifications in cloud security, SRE practices, or observability tooling.
Training or certification in financial modeling for cloud environments or SaaS economic analysis.
