IT Configuration Management Consultant

Day to Day Responsibilities: 

  • Conducts and maintains the System Criticality Questionnaire (SCQ) process
  • Establish and document work processes according to best practices and
    standards for configuration management database (CMDB) and ensure data accuracy and alignment with SCQ ratings and IT Assets
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure integration of CMDB information with Incident, Problem and Change management process.
  • Support IT Asset management policies, procedures and standards
  • Support regular audit to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Support Annual Business Continuity Exercises.
  • Champion culture and conduct behavioural expectations within the Department/Division
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies and contribute to risk culture and audit participation.

Technical Skills & Competency Requirements

The role requires strong hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • IT Asset Management (ITAM) — Managing IT assets throughout their lifecycle, ensuring record accuracy, compliance, and alignment to internal standards and policies.

  • Configuration Management & CMDB — Maintaining and governing CMDB data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and consistency across systems and IT services.

  • System Criticality Questionnaire (SCQ) Management — Conducting and maintaining SCQ assessments, ensuring alignment with CMDB and criticality ratings.

  • CMDB Process Design & Documentation — Establishing and documenting configuration management processes in accordance with ITIL and internal best practices.

  • ITSM Process Integration — Integrating CMDB information with Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes to support operational efficiency and governance.

  • IT Compliance, Risk & Audit Support — Supporting IT compliance activities, audit reviews, remediation tasks, and contributing to risk management practices.

  • IT Asset & Configuration Policy Support — Supporting and enforcing ITAM and configuration policies, procedures, and governance standards.

  • Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration — Coordinating with business, application, infrastructure, audit, and vendor teams to support CMDB and ITAM activities.

  • Process Mapping & Documentation — Developing clear process flows, SOPs, documentation, and governance artifacts for operational consistency.

  • Business Continuity & Resilience Support — Supporting Business Continuity Planning (BCP) exercises by ensuring configuration and asset data readiness.

  • Risk Awareness & Policy Compliance — Ensuring adherence to IT control policies, risk culture expectations, and compliance requirements.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving (IT Operations Context) — Applying analytical skills to diagnose issues, assess operational impact, and propose practical solutions within IT operations.
