The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences.
The Portfolio incorporates the following business units: Enterprise Business Performance Improvement (EBPI), Communications, Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), Global Marketing & Student Recruitment, Human Resources, Information and Technology Services (ITS), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG).
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides RMIT University with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and services. Our role is to support RMIT’s high quality teaching, learning, research and administrative activities.
Information Technology Services:
Ensures the IT infrastructure and information management services and systems enhance the performance of the University’s core functions.
Facilitates effective use of information technology in teaching and learning, research & development, administrative and commercial activities.
Develops and implements efficient and effective IT management practices.

The Role
The Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, coordination and delivery of cloud, integration and application initiatives across platforms such as Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and MuleSoft. The role manages end to end delivery of projects including cloud migrations, platform deployments, system integrations and service optimisation. Delivery is expected to meet agreed timelines, scope, budget and align with organisational priorities, security standards and governance requirements.
The role works closely with enterprise architects, technical engineering teams, vendors and business stakeholders to coordinate delivery activities, manage risks and issues, and ensure successful implementation and adoption of technology solutions. The Project Manager maintains delivery governance, financial oversight, vendor coordination and transparent reporting across the full project lifecycle.
The role requires sound financial management, strong vendor and stakeholder engagement, and the ability to operate autonomously within complex delivery environments. The Project Manager applies structured delivery approaches including Agile, Waterfall and hybrid methodologies, while supporting collaborative practices such as human centred design where appropriate. The role leads delivery teams to ensure outcomes are achieved efficiently, risks are actively managed, and project objectives are realised across a range of technology initiatives within the portfolio.
About You:
The position requires strong experience delivering technology initiatives, particularly across cloud, integration and enterprise applications.
Skills & Experience
End-to-End Delivery Planning, Scheduling & Governance: Lead cloud migration, deployment, and optimisation projects from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within scope and budget. Develop project plans, schedules, and resource allocations while maintaining compliance with organisational governance and cloud security standards using RMIT project management tools.
Stakeholder Engagement: Manage communication with business units, technical teams, and vendors. Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and issues.
Proven Project Management Experience - Demonstrated ability to deliver complex IT or cloud transformation projects on time and within budget.
MPP Schedule Development & Management - Proficiency in developing, maintaining, and tracking project schedules using Microsoft Project (MPP), including resource allocation and critical path analysis.
Cloud Technology Knowledge - Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), virtualisation, networking, and security principles.
Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and drive process improvements.
