This role plays a critical part in delivering high‑impact services projects across the ASEAN region, helping customers successfully deploy complex optical and packet transport networks. The position offers the opportunity to lead cross‑functional teams, influence outcomes across the full project lifecycle, and directly contribute to customer satisfaction, financial performance, and long‑term business value at Ciena.
How you will make an impact:
- Lead and deliver one or more complex services projects across customer networks, ensuring scope, quality, schedule, and cost commitments are achieved
- Provide full account‑level leadership for the Services Project Management team responsible for customer implementations
- Drive achievement of services target margins through effective planning, execution, and financial oversight, supporting accurate revenue recognition
- Analyze project proposals to determine timelines, funding constraints, delivery approaches, and resource requirements
- Establish and manage project plans, milestones, deliverables, and communication strategies across all project phases
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while clearly communicating status, challenges, and resolutions to stakeholders and management
- Collaborate across Ciena teams and customer operations, including Sales, Bid Management, Service Delivery, and Finance, to ensure delivery and financial objectives are met
The must haves:
- 5+ years of professional experience in project management, including ownership of complex, customer‑facing projects
- Demonstrated experience working in a matrix organization, with strong influencing and cross‑functional collaboration skills
- Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies used to manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk
- Strong analytical, judgment, and decision‑making capabilities applied to multi‑dimensional business and technical challenges
- Excellent planning, scheduling, coordination, and organizational skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
Nice to haves:
- Experience managing projects involving optical and/or packet transport networks, such as Optical Transport Network (OTN) technologies
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience supporting pre‑sales activities, including customer proposals and request for proposal (RFP) responses
- Broad understanding of telecommunications services delivery and business operations
- Demonstrated contribution to process optimization or continuous improvement initiatives related to project management
