This role is part of the Intern Program, designed to attract high-performing undergraduates from local universities studying Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related disciplines. Interns will work on projects that contribute to Smith+Nephew’s goals while gaining practical experience to advance their careers. The program offers meaningful work, team-building events, and social activities, providing valuable exposure to the medical device industry and potential future employment opportunities.
 

What will you be doing?
Support managers in driving targeted projects to completion, including presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Assist the Project Manager in tracking daily progress and managing administrative aspects of product transfer projects, ensuring alignment with value stream plans and kick-off reviews. Lead mini-projects by establishing project folders and checklists in Microsoft Teams according to PRB structure, and developing comprehensive project communication plans to ensure seamless coordination and execution.
 

What will you need to be successful?

  • This internship is open to undergraduates currently enrolled at an accredited university, majoring in Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related disciplines. Candidates should maintain excellent academic standing, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher. The position is based in Batu Kawan, Penang.
  • Previous intern, part-time, or apprenticeship experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a foundational understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and, ideally, leadership experience with effective project management exposure. Strong communication skills, including technical writing, listening, and speaking, are essential, as well as the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • The role requires high learning agility, the ability to analyze and synthesize data, and present insights to senior leadership. Interns must work independently and as part of a team, assess technical issues, and develop analytical solutions. Time management and organizational skills are crucial to handle tight deadlines, multiple tasks, dynamic workloads, and rapidly evolving business and technological demands.
