The Role
Kyndryl’s Project Managers oversee the delivery of major projects within scope, schedule, and budget. They drive success at every stage and bring everyone’s efforts together to create beautiful harmony—like a “conductor” of an orchestra. Acting as the single point of contact for customers, they embody Kyndryl’s corporate reputation every day.
A Kyndryl Project Manager manages a highly detailed and well-structured calendar. They lead the creation of comprehensive project plans, team management, meetings, status checks, planning sessions, and regular reviews. They analyze and mitigate risks, manage finances, and ensure the team has the right skills. Beyond that, they plan and delegate activities, meet deadlines, deliver based on milestones, and ensure overall customer satisfaction.
Of course, plans often change as projects progress, so they must maintain a continuous improvement mindset—focusing not just on scheduling but on delivering value. Communication is just as critical as planning and organization, accounting for 90% of the role. You are the single point of contact for customers, partners, and all stakeholders, supporting them and ensuring their needs are met. You also serve as the bridge between all other project teams, including technical and sales teams. This creates an exciting environment with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and languages.
In short: You need to enjoy interacting with others, be kind and empathetic, yet assertive enough to handle customer change requests smoothly. You’ll meet many people, build networks, and develop strong relationships. Our concept of “One Team with the Customer” means forming particularly strong partnerships with customers and stakeholders. Depending on the project, you may even work on-site at the customer’s location. In such cases, you’ll often be in the spotlight, but you’ll also gain more opportunities to strengthen relationships. You can advance to Senior Project Manager or Program Manager roles, or move into other technical or non-technical fields.
