The Opportunity:

This role offers the chance to play a key part in uplifting and modernising maintenance and sustainment practices within a complex program environment. You will drive the improvement of the Product Baseline (PBS), addressing legacy data misalignment to ensure accuracy, consistency, and control.

Working within a deliverables-based framework, you will help align baseline data, documentation, and toolsets while contributing to the adoption of digital content management practices.

Your work will directly support long-term sustainment outcomes under the Maritime Sustainment Model (MSM), enabling more efficient, integrated, and future-ready operations.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and is based in Garden Island, Sydney.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of the Product Baseline (PBS) Maintenance Baseline uplift, ensuring alignment with sustainment priorities and stakeholder objectives
  • Plan and oversee end-to-end technical delivery (data extraction, analysis, updates, and baseline integration) to meet schedule and quality targets
  • Ensure baseline integrity and compliance across systems, data, and documentation, managing associated risks
  • Act as the primary technical interface with stakeholders and customers, supporting delivery, risk mitigation, and handover
  • Manage project planning, scheduling, risk, and progress to achieve milestones within agreed timeframes
  • Monitor and manage risks, constraints, and impacts across resources, schedule, and cost
  • Support financial and workforce oversight, including budget awareness and recruitment activities
  • Lead and mentor the team, providing direction, prioritisation, and technical guidance
  • Foster strong stakeholder relationships and a collaborative team environment
  • Drive continuous improvement across products, processes, and services

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential

  • Relevant vocational qualification in a technical trade or engineering discipline
  • Proven project management experience
  • Extensive experience in Defence maintenance, including experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in maintenance management and leading teams to develop and manage Product Baseline data and documentation
  • Strong knowledge of Defence maintenance and configuration management systems (e.g. CMT-U, AMPS, APLCRATES/NAVALLOW)
  • Solid understanding of contemporary maintenance practices and Defence supply support procedures
  • Working knowledge of IPS/ILS artefacts, LSAR and ANPs
  • Strong leadership and team management capability in high-tempo environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Eligible for an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance (minimum NV1) & Eligible for ITAR clearance

Desirable Experience

  • Higher qualification in engineering, technical trade, or maritime discipline
  • Experience as a Waterfront Engineer or Ship Superintendent (Defence)
  • Experience leading planned and breakdown maintenance activities
  • Strong technical knowledge of marine systems

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
