Job Description

This is a One-year contract position.

How will you make an impact:

Carry out management of engineering projects including estimating costs, sourcing, identifying, specifying, purchasing, and installing equipment, design/modification of existing or new facilities to meet site/company requirements.

What will you do:

Project Engineering & Management

  • Lead engineering design and project management activities to ensure projects meet objectives related to cost, productivity, quality, and GMP compliance.
  • Select and oversee engineering contractors; track project progress to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.
  • Develop and present project solutions and cost estimates; adjust project scope as needed.
  • Create, review, and interpret engineering drawings and equipment/facility specifications.
  • Support and manage change control processes, including TrackWise documentation.

Construction Oversight & Start-Up

  • Supervise construction phases to ensure alignment with scope, budget, schedule, and GMP documentation requirements.
  • Prepare bid packages and select construction contractors and equipment vendors.
  • Support creation and execution of IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and related change control documents.
  • Monitor contractor performance related to safety, quality, and workmanship, resolving issues promptly.
  • Manage equipment installation, commissioning, and facility modifications with minimal operational disruption.

Project Administration

  • Define, monitor, and control project scope and costs; track expenditures and approve contractor payments.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and report status, cost, and safety updates to leadership.

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Serve as a technical resource for facility and utility systems, troubleshooting issues and recommending solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, planning meetings, and training of junior engineers.
  • Contribute to advancing facility and utility technologies across the organization.

Leadership & Training

  • Engage in continuous learning through training, seminars, and involvement in process improvement initiatives.

Safety

  • Maintain a safe working environment and proactively report potential hazards.

How will you get here:

Education:

Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management within a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment.


Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Good knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices requirements and pharmaceutical processing regulations. Ability to work with minimal supervision.  Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including MS Project. Knowledge of ACAD.  Strong judgment, decision making and trouble shooting skills.  Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and oral).  Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.  Proficiency with the English language.

Physical Requirements:

Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area.  There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator on occasionally.
