Job Description Summary

               

The Project Engineer supports the plant by helping develop and implement capital projects. This role works both as part of project teams—under the guidance of senior engineers and managers—and as a project lead responsible for coordinating other engineers and staff.

Key responsibilities include preparing project studies and reports; developing schedules and budgets; performing site inspections; preparing bid packages; evaluating contractor proposals; coordinating contractors during execution; and managing project closeout and post‑project analysis.

Job Description

  • Provides a variety of project engineering work in planning and design of electrical, mechanical and structural industrial processes and facilities.
  • Preparation of design concepts and budgets.
  • Analysis of process and facility systems.
  • Oversee installation, including installing and upgrading processing systems, development of facilities and associated support systems.
  • May direct teams or participate as a team member of a larger project team depending on the assignment.
  • Requires the ability to perform engineering analysis, design development, prepare specifications and bid packages, prepare engineering drawings and layouts, administrate bids, prepare and direct construction safety programs, direct construction activities and coordinate startup and completion processes.
  • This position requires the ability to travel and participate in projects at various locations as required to meet the project requirements.
  • This position involves significant communication and coordination with multiple stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Finance, EHS and RQI).
  • Travel may be required to company and co-manufacturer manufacturing plants, vendors, suppliers, engineering service providers, and any other sites required to successfully execute projects.
  • Functionally this position reports directly to the Plant Engineering Mgr.
  • External interaction will include, however, not limited to, equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors, local / state / federal government agencies, and co-manufacturing organizations.
  • This person will have a fundamental understanding of a food manufacturing environment, a technical knowledge of processes and equipment and basic Project Management skills that can be applied to developing and leading low complexity business initiatives.
  • Execute, integrate and align assigned projects by utilizing structured engineering work flow process. Execute project initiatives to ensure that all projects are completed to meet business needs.
  • Responsible to ensure that all project planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed accurately and that all projects are delivered within cost, schedule and performance success criteria. This individual is expected to independently manage projects from development to completion and interface with the right stakeholders to deliver business results and value.
  • Other duties as required.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Professional registration or EIT status desirable
  • Potato process plant experience in production/quality assurance/support
  • 2+ years engineering experience in projects/maintenance work desirable
  • PQ training desirable
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills
  • Must be detail orientated
  • Proven self-starter and work history profile
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong PC skills to include Windows, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Access, AutoCad
  • Ability to drive and otherwise travel to various locations to perform work.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role is listed below.

               

Pay Rate or Range: $69,500.00 - $104,240.00
