Primary Responsibilities

  • The Project Engineer will work alongside design engineers, structural analysis engineers, manufacturing personnel, procurement teammates, program management, and customers to oversee design, analysis, fabrication/assembly, and delivery of critical hardware to various customers.
  • The position will work independently with minimal interaction from leadership to manage tasks involving the design and development of structural and mechanical systems for material processing, material characterization, aviation, missile, and ground support projects.
  • The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing schedules and budgets as related to their project.
  • The Project Engineer will be responsible for the execution of design/manufacturing projects/task orders. This will include being the conduit for most communication beteween the customer POC(s), engineering staff, manufacturing teams, finance team, contracts team, and Leidos line management.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 4-8 years experience in engineering and/or project management.  
  • Candidates must have a working understanding of various manufacturing methods, configuration management practices, and .
  • Must possess excellent communication skills suitable for interfacing with a wide range of customers and capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Candidate should have some desire/willingness to mentor junior mechanical designers and/or structural analysts.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen, and must be a resident of the Huntsville, AL area or be willing to relocate.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a DOE Q clearance.
  • Candidate must have good organizational skills, attention to detail and work well as a key member of a team often tasked to be highly responsive and agile in order to satisfy critical technology development and hardware Projection needs:
    • Proven experience managing to and meeting accelerated schedules
    • Effective communication of information between various functional disciplines as well as strong briefing skill with customers.
    • Schedule management for multiple task areas at a time
    • Understanding the requirements of executing classified tasks.
  • Candidate must be proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DOE Cleared candidate preferred.
  • 5 years related experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hardware development, manufacturing, procurement, Projection, and integration.
  • Proficiency using CAD software: Solidworks and/or Creo/ProE
  • Experience working in a classified design/manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with general drafting practices, with a demonstrated ability to create Projection drawings and have experience interfacing with CAD software, and CAD data management.
  • Experience interfacing directly with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as PTC Windchill.
  • Experience interfacing directly with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) such as iBase-t Solumina.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is strongly preferred.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
