Overall Purpose:

The Project (District) Officer will be reporting to the Program Officer and shall support field-level implementation of food fortification, nutrition and health initiatives with a focus on quality improvement, monitoring, and documentation in the district. The role will involve regular engagement with food manufacturing units, storage facilities and other relevant stakeholders to support capacity building for adherence to quality standards and facilitate monitoring activities.

Job Description:

  • Support implementation of food fortification activities at the district and facility level.
  • Conduct regular field visits to food manufacturing units and storage facilities to monitor production practices, storage conditions, and quality-related processes.
  • Provide on-site technical and operational support to strengthen adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and good storage and handling practices.
  • Assist in identification of quality gaps and support implementation of corrective actions in coordination with the State Lead.
  • Support collection, documentation, and tracking of food samples for quality testing as per defined protocols.
  • Coordinate with laboratories and relevant stakeholders for timely testing and reporting of samples.
  • Maintain records of field visits, observations, sample collection, and follow-up actions.
  • Support district- and state-level trainings, reviews, and meetings related to food fortification.
  • Assist in data collection and reporting for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Support dissemination of guidance, job aids, and training materials to field-level stakeholders.
  • Liaise with district officials, facility staff, and other stakeholders to support smooth program implementation.
  • Support the PATH team in additional field-level activities as required.


Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, food processing, or nutrition-related or public health programs.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with state government departments and public food systems.
  • Proficiency in Project Management and engagement at the State level across multisectoral departments. Working experience with state government, WCD, MDM and PDS departments is highly desirable
  • Experience working with food manufacturing or processing environments preferred.
  • Experience in the rice industry, familiarity with rice milling, food extrusion processes is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Punjabi, Hindi and English; knowledge of other Indian languages will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, coordination, supportive supervision and monitoring of public health projects are desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS office with good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Experience of working with the government departments/development sector/ INGOs would be preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within assigned districts
