Introduction

We are seeking a Senior Project Controls Engineer to support construction and tool hook‑up projects within a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facility in Germany.

This is a hands-on, senior role requiring immediate impact. The successful candidate will take ownership of cost, progress measurement, and management reporting, working closely with construction management, engineering, suppliers, and external contractors in a highly dynamic fab environment.

The role requires strong business understanding of semiconductor construction and equipment hook‑up, combined with modern digital reporting capabilities (e.g. Power BI) and deep experience in project execution-phase controls.

Your Job

Project Controls & Execution Support

  • Establish and maintain integrated cost control for construction and tool hook‑up scopes.

  • Develop and manage baseline budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections across multiple work packages.

  • Track and analyze progress, productivity, earned value, and cost deviations.

  • Identify risks, trends, and early warning indicators; clearly communicate impacts to project leadership.

Reporting & Digital Analytics

  • Create and own management‑level dashboards and reports using Power BI and related tools.

  • Translate complex project data into clear, decision‑ready insights for senior stakeholders.

  • Ensure consistent, transparent reporting aligned with CapEx and OpEx governance and internal standards.

Contractor & Stakeholder Interface

  • Act as the project controls focal point for EPC partners, construction managers, and tool vendors.

  • Review contractor progress reports, cost reports, and change submissions.

  • Support change management, claims avoidance, and commercial discussions through fact‑based analysis.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with project controls procedures, site standards, and audit requirements.

  • Support internal reviews, forecasts, and management reports during execution phases.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • University degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in project controls on major industrial or infrastructure projects.

  • Proven experience in semiconductor fab construction and/or tool hook‑up environments is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to take over active projects quickly and operate with minimal onboarding.

  • Experience working with EPC contractors and multiple subcontractors in execution-heavy phases.

Technical & Digital Skills

  • Strong command of cost control, forecasting and progress measurement.

  • Excellent skills in reporting tools, preferably Power BI (data modeling, dashboards, visualization).

  • Solid understanding of Primavera P6 and/or similar scheduling tools (advantageous).

  • High proficiency with Excel and structured data analysis.

  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP (e.g. SAP PS, CO, MM) or Oracle for:

    • Cost tracking and commitment management

    • Purchase orders, invoicing, and accruals

    • Budget control and forecasting in CapEx environments

Business & Communication Skills

  • Strong understanding of the construction and hook‑up business model in semiconductor manufacturing.

  • Ability to challenge data, ask the right questions, and drive transparency.

  • Clear, structured communicator capable of engaging with senior management.

  • Fluent in German and English (Written & Verbal: C1)
