Program Trainer II (Accountant)

This intermediate trainer is tasked to enhance the capacity-building program support and partnership by providing professional support and training to FCPs accountants and other key stakeholders on how to make financial report based on accounting/system topics and program requirements, assisting with activities such as Field Accounting, Accounts Payable or Fixed Assets in completion of daily, monthly and annual processes. This incumbent will work with FCPs accountants to make sure they receive appropriate support for timely and accurate recording expenses for effective financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christlike attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.

  • Acts as an advocate for children. Understands and advances Christ's mandate to protect children. Raises awareness of the needs of children and takes active steps to help protect against neglect, abuse, and exploitation of children. Promotes the dignity, respect, positive treatment, potential of children in all circumstances. Encourages the involvement of others in helping children in need. Reports and appropriately supports responses to incidents of harm of children if they occur.

  • Contextualizes training material for individual Frontline Church Partners (FCPs) and maintains training materials for FCPs.

  • Delivers training on areas such as budget development, disbursement, bookkeeping, bank reconciliation process to help FCPs prepare monthly financial reports according to institution guidelines. Develops and implements activities to contextualize content and reinforce key learnings and assess effectiveness. Assesses and reports learner performance. Compiles and assesses data to measure performance.

  • Creates a dynamic learning environment to meet specific learning objectives, guiding participants, in small and medium group settings, through structured learning and interaction using various facilitation techniques, adjusting learning styles as necessary for culture and knowledge level.

  • May participate in auditing and evaluating existing content, assesses needs and results, assists, or recommends changes as appropriate.

  • Travel as needed to FCP sites to corroborate non justified expenses or to try to understand some financial transactions

  • Plans and coordinates logistics for training events and delivers learning opportunities for small and medium groups.

  • Delivers globally and locally developed content through understanding local context and ministry culture, training on different platforms/blended learning (i.e. local, remote, large group, instructive, facilitative, computer-based training).

  • Coordinates and contextualizes learning approach with program staff to meet special learning needs of partners. Coordinates with stakeholder to ensure relevancy and simplifies and transfers program concepts, providing insight of emerging learning and development strategies and best practices to enhance the success of assigned learning programs.

Education

  • University degree in accounting or related fields.

Work Experience

  • Four years work experience in Accounting or related fields

  • Experience in adult Education/Training, Facilitation, or related area of expertise; with knowledge and experience of child development and social research methods.

  • Experiences in online education/training.

  • Computer proficiency, experience in using Microsoft Office, presentation, publication software applications, etc.

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs in a way to meet others’ needs.

Others

  • Excellent driving skills (manual transmission) are required. Has driving experiences in remote areas.

  • Ability to facilitate multiple content subject matters through multiple methodologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in small and medium sized groups.

  • Able to work collaboratively, cross-culturally, interdenominationally and cross-organizationally.

  • Intermediate English language Proficiency

  • Good proficiency in French and Creole (written & oral)
