Job Summary: The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Program Support Assistant. The Program Support Assistant is assigned to the Polytrauma Amputation Network Site (PANS) within the Amputation System of Care (ASoC). The incumbent functions as a program and administrative assistant to the Polytrauma Amputation Network Site (PANS) in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Care Line under the direction of the PANS Medical Director.

Major Duties:

  • The Program Support Assistant duties include, but are not limited to: Provides program administrative and technical assistance in the day-to-day operations, program planning for PANS, and completes special projects as assigned. Recognizes and resolves program issues on an ongoing basis. Monitors and maintains program requirements for the JCAHO and CARF standards and quality improvement activities as assigned. Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Regional Amputation Center's Program operation. Assists in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies. Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data. Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Evaluates documents, e.g., sampling plans, permit applications, and other data collection forms. Coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources, reviewing documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track suspense on items such as project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, and compliance strategies. Collects and analyzes data which identify the need for programmatic enhancements. Provide program guidance and development of employees within the service to ensure understanding and compliance related to scheduling, workload capture, VSSC, and other programs used to monitor the completion of workload. Providing staff development opportunities relating to educating staff on the purpose of completion of workload in a timely manner. Qualifications: In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days of the closing date listed on the announcement: Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. You may qualify based on your experience: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience may have been gained in a Clerical or Administrative Support environment and include, but are not limited to: providing administrative support, operating a personal computer, using a computer to process and analyze data, sorting and processing incoming correspondence, coordinating with others between various units and offices to accomplish work related projects, analyzing work flow to determine potential problem areas and making recommendations to correct, proofreading documents for grammatical errors, notifying others of pending appointments and meetings, and advising others on processes or procedures.
