Program Officer - Coaching

Key Responsibilities:

Reports to: Programme Manager

Key Result Areas:

Effective Implementation and sustainability of interventions

  • Develop annual project activity plans and update quarterly in collaboration with key departments, oversee implementation to high standards by scope and timelines

  • Deliver programmatic decisions on the Graduation Approach best practice, as well as the innovations being tested.  

  • Participate in participant targeting processes and ensure the enrolment of targeted groups 

  • Responsible for the delivery of tools, Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and programmatic guidelines related to coaching component 

  • Participate in building capacity of local implementing partners, coaches and CBTs in the coaching technical area under the leadership of the Coaching TA  

  • Follow up on the knowledge attitude and practices on food and WASH and ensure that results from this and other studies are analyzed and actions well integrated into Coaches’ mentorships in collaboration with relevant TAs

  • Provide business coaching and support on income generating activities, market analysis and value chain analysis.

  • Organize monthly field planning meetings with farmer groups and WVU departments to guide effective implementation.

Stakeholders engagement and collaboration

  • Maintain good coordination and working relationships with OPM, UNHCR, Humanitarian Actors, and district leaders.

  • Participate in stakeholder joint engagements, planning meetings, livelihood sector working groups, monthly coordination meetings, workshops and other fora. 

  • Engage with and follow up relevant market actors with whom the Activity is collaborating under specific deal notes in collaboration with the market systems development TA.

  • Collaborate with district and development actors on ongoing programs on livelihoods enhancement, liaising with extension workers, other relevant sub-county leaders and district stakeholders to facilitate sustainable implementation of project activities.

  • Foster ongoing positive cooperation with stakeholders and embrace links between market actors and participants.

  • Ensure integration of project with other Livelihood on going activities including that of World Vision, partners and government 

  • Organize monthly field planning meetings with farmer groups and WVU departments to guide effective implementation.
     

Linkage, networking, collaboration and mentorship

  • Map out all relevant service actors for critical services including integrated early childhood development, psychosocial support, parenting and care activities to ensure high quality programming and implementation of referrals and access to critical services 

  • Regularly update the service provider inventory and engage them towards maintaining a functional referral pathway 

  • Ensure that all service outreaches are well planned and implemented towards effective referrals. 

  • Conduct referral and linkages of participants and informal business for critical socio-economic services to linkages to government social protection programs and the private sector e.g. Financial Institutions.

  • Network and link with other organizations and projects implementing economic inclusion and livelihoods and bring these to the attention of the relevant TA

  • Participate in technical working group coordination meetings and initiatives related to livelihoods.

  • Ensure all project-based needs and requirements are timely and efficiently shared with stakeholders for best coordinated implementation. 

  • Identify and facilitate linkages between participants and key livelihood stakeholders, to access more services.
     

Documentation, Reporting and Knowledge Management 

  • Contribute to the refining of the coaching and graduation indicators and measurement tools for coaching, referral and graduation in coordination with the coaching TA

  • Compile and submit activity reports and support preparation of quality monthly, quarterly and annual progress, and special reports

  • Support quarterly reviews and reflections on progress of the project at the district level. 

  • Participate in design of monitoring tools and data collection activities together with MEAL team including assessments, monitoring, evaluation and cross sectoral learning.

  • Ensure activities are effectively implemented, monitored and progress reports shared.   

  • Ensure equal participation of all project participants i.e., refugees and hosts in project monitoring and evaluation.

  • Work with Programme Manager & MEAL Officer, compile and submit timely quarterly and annual reports

  • Participate in learning events, prepare abstracts and papers for conferences and publications related to achievements and challenges around livelihoods 

  • Support annual review of progress towards project objectives 

  • Contribute to dissemination and sharing of best practices and lessons learned for corporate development planning and knowledge building.
     

Child Protection, gender and Disability inclusion

  • Ensure inclusion and participation of vulnerable groups in project activities 

  • Liaise with WV experts to provide proficient advice on gender, protection and disability inclusion in the project.

  • Monitor wellbeing and child abuse cases and report any incidents in line with child protection policy and guidelines.

  • Work with local leaders to protect children from child violations and abuses 

  • Sensitize guardians/parents including most vulnerable children and other stakeholders about children’s rights and responsibilities.

  • Any other business as assigned by supervisor including participation in key committees and task forces.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

  • A minimum of Bachelors in Agriculture or Agribusiness or Business studies or Development studies or any other relevant discipline.  

  • Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity of households to engage in viable economic activities.

  • At least (3) three years’ experience working with vulnerable communities and familiarity with humanitarian and development contexts.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in field-based project management roles working in resilience and livelihood with International NGOs or local government.

  • Experience delivering business development services to micro-businesses in the informal sector.

  • Proven facilitation skills and experience in delivering technical trainings for various categories of participants.

  • Experience of data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing.

  • Capacity in relationship management/networking, and coordination is essential..

  • Good interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proven conceptual & analytical skills, ability to take an evidence-based approach to program design.

  • Proven facilitation skills and track record demonstrating high integrity, innovativeness, creativity, reliability and dependable.

  • Proactive personality, self-driven and strongly motivated.

  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with valid driving/riding license is a MUSTA.

  • Track record demonstrating high integrity, innovativeness, creativity, reliability and dependable.

  • Spiritual maturity, interfaith knowledge and a biblical worldview – ability to articulate and model our Christian identity and mission in an inclusive way.

  • Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
