Program Manager

As a Program Manager, you will lead an ongoing enterprise-wide initiative composed of multiple projects across the organization designed to improve efficiency and reduce costs. The Program Manager is accountable for keeping key stakeholders informed on the performance of identified projects against established goals as well as highlighting any issues impeding success. You will provide guidance and support across these projects and serve as a thought partner in identifying areas of opportunity for efficiency and/or savings projects. The Program Manager may also be called upon to manage projects within the initiative should there be a need. A successful candidate will possess the ability to work with teams across all areas of the company and at all organizational levels.

A primary component of the role is the responsibility of the program financial tracking including the integrity of program financials and responsibility for financial tracking tools associated with the program.

Applicants will follow a hybrid schedule that includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at the Burlington, NC location, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

Core Tasks:

  • Lead strategic program through coordination of multiple project management teams to deliver project goals that span across different functional areas of the business

  • Communicate with key stakeholders across the organization in regards to program deliverables, guidelines, and expectations

  • Review financial components for all projects within the program to ensure both financial integrity and adherence to program financial tracking guidelines

  • Maintain and improve program financial tracking tools (currently based in Smartsheet and Excel) to ensure accurate and efficient project financial reporting

  • Prepare and communicate program status and financial results to key stakeholders and executive leadership

  • Measure performance of the program to identify areas for improvement


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update program tracking mechanisms (currently based in Smartsheet and Excel) to support operational and financial objectives

  • Engage with key stakeholders to track program financials to meet stated project goals, including budget, savings and investments

  • Ensure the accuracy of financial reporting which includes the prevention of double counting within the financial metrics across dissimilar initiatives

  • Provide program/project updates on a consistent basis to key stakeholders about strategy, adjustments and progress

  • Resolve conflicts between projects and align work done by other project managers and their teams

  • Create presentations and reports to communicate project status

  • Navigate and influence priorities with project teams

  • Provide project management support (full lifecycle) on individual projects as required.

  • Mentor team members in best practices and execution of projects

  • Travel as needed to support the program effort (up to 20%)


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., Finance, Business, IT) or a non-relevant degree combined with equivalent work experience

  • 2 minimum years’ working experience in project management

    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate all areas of the PM lifecycle: scope/planning/execution/closure and mentor others through process

    • Ability to manage large integrated projects across multiple disciplines

    • Advanced skills with project management software tools, methodologies and best practices

    • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline

  • Strong financial knowledge and acumen including work experience with the controller / assistant controller level

  • History of executive communication development and delivery

  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills

  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management and or change management

  • Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge and capabilities including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups

  • Working knowledge and demonstrable history of development in the Smartsheet environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • CAPM, PMP and/or Green Belt certification(s)

  • Smartsheet and/or Microsoft Excel certification(s); experience with macros

  • Experience working in an analytical role within a financial organization

  • 5+ years’ working experience in project management

  • Deep knowledge of Smartsheet software solution implementations, each with varied focus (financial, lab technical, construction, commercial, etc.)
