Senior Project Manager – IT Infrastructure Delivery
Role Overview
The Senior Project Manager will provide strategic leadership to the IT Infrastructure Projects Delivery function and will be a key member of the core team responsible for driving the organization’s IT infrastructure strategy. This role oversees the planning, execution, and successful delivery of a portfolio of infrastructure projects across traditional, cloud, and hybrid environments. The individual will ensure adherence to project management best practices, enforce compliance with IT governance frameworks, and maintain high standards of project delivery throughout the infrastructure function.
Must-Have Skills & Competencies
- The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced IT infrastructure leader with a strong blend of technical, managerial, and strategic capabilities:
- Leadership in IT Infrastructure Project Delivery: 8–10 years of experience leading infrastructure programs and teams delivering network, server, storage, database, or hybrid cloud projects.
- Project Management Methodologies (PMI / PRINCE2): 8–10 years of hands-on experience managing projects using PMI or PRINCE2 frameworks; PMP or PRINCE2 certification is mandatory.
- Strategic Planning & Program Management: 5+ years of experience driving multi-phase projects with strategic alignment, budget control, and resource management.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management: 8+ years of experience influencing senior stakeholders, managing vendors, and coordinating across business and IT teams.
- Infrastructure Technology Knowledge: 8+ years of experience with enterprise-grade infrastructure components, including network, server, storage, database, and middleware.
- Cloud & Hybrid Environment Projects: 3–5 years of experience delivering infrastructure initiatives across on-premise, private, and public cloud environments.
- Project Governance & Compliance: 5+ years of experience ensuring alignment with IT governance frameworks, compliance processes, and risk management practices.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: 5+ years of experience guiding, coaching, and managing junior PMs and cross-functional delivery teams.
- Risk, Issue & Dependency Management: 5+ years of experience identifying, mitigating, and communicating project risks, issues, and dependencies clearly to management.
- ITIL / ITSM Understanding: 2+ years of experience or certification in IT service management processes preferred.
- Change Management & Continuous Improvement: 5+ years of experience driving process improvements and adapting to evolving technologies and environments.
- Communication & Negotiation Skills: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to handle conflict and influence decisions at senior levels.
- Experience in Multi-Stakeholder Environments: Experience working in large enterprises or matrix organizations with complex internal and external interactions.
- Integrity, Accountability & Initiative: Demonstrates ownership, responsibility, and proactive leadership in challenging situations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Infrastructure Project department, guiding junior project managers and project teams.
- Establish and enforce project governance, standards, and best practices.
- Lead and oversee complex, multi-phase projects with significant business impact, ensuring delivery within scope, timelines, and allocated resources.
- Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria aligned with strategic goals.
- Track project milestones and highlight project risks promptly to PSC and senior management.
- Ensure alignment with internal PMO standards and compliance with PMO processes.
- Manage internal business and other stakeholders to understand and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical requirements.
- Coordinate and bridge between vendors and internal teams for troubleshooting and post-mortem activities.
- Prepare full-scale proposals with the technical solution team and present them to management for approval.
- Collaborate with governance functions and stakeholders on project risk management and procurement activities.
- Proactively identify risks, interdependencies, and potential roadblocks, recommending effective solutions.
- Take accountability for business and regulatory compliance risks and implement mitigation steps.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulatory compliance, emerging threats, and technologies to better safeguard the company.
- Highlight potential concerns and proactively share best practices in risk management.
