Major Duties:

  • NON APPROPRIATED FUNDS POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: RECREATION SPECIALIST BUS TITLE: PROGRAM COORDINATOR JOB SERIES: 0188 GRADE: NF-03 FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT MAJOR DUTIES: Plans and organizes an assortment of programs offered by various contractors performing services within fitness centers and associated facilities. Programs may include martial arts, massage therapy, dance, cheer, sports coaching, operation support, and others. Develops statements of work. Submits procurement requests to establish new contracts; renew, extend, and modify current contracts. Acts as the contracting officer representative for all program contractors. Oversees contractor performance, inspects and accepts work submitted by contractors, accurately maintains administrative contract files and reports, serves as liaison between contractors and the contracting officer, and performs other contractual tasks as designated by the contracting officer. Evaluates programs to ensure safe and effective activities are being followed by performing quarterly audits and reports for each contractor. Ensures program information is accurately disseminated to the community via digital and print mediums. This position requires travel between facilities located on various camps and stations throughout Okinawa. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of three years of work experience related to the duties of the position. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain certification in standard first aid, CPR, and AED within 90 days of employment Skill in the use of personal computers and associated software. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Must possess a valid driver's license. Employees hired into this position are required to complete the Blood and Body Fluids (BBF) medical certification within 60 days of their start date. This post-hire certification ensures compliance with Occupational Health guidelines and supports safe operational readiness for duties involving potential exposure risks. The time period for MSP eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor's reporting date to the new duty station, if accompanied, or at any time thereafter during the tour. All military and DoD civilian spouses are required to provide a copy of their sponsor's orders during the application process.
