About the opportunity

Flinders University is seeking to appoint a Professor in Medical Education within their College of Medicine and Public Health. This is a distinguished professorial opportunity to lead at scale, shaping the future of medical education through visionary leadership in teaching, research, and academic governance, and further enhancing the College’s national and international reputation as a centre of excellence.

Reporting to the Dean of Education, you will provide strategic leadership across the College, driving excellence and innovation in medical education through four key areas:

  • Education leadership: Leading innovation in teaching quality, curriculum renewal, and academic standards, delivering transformative educational initiatives that advance contemporary medical education practice.

  • Research and scholarship: Sustaining and advancing an internationally recognised program of research in medical education, with a strong track record of high-impact publications and success in securing competitive external funding.

  • Capacity building and mentorship: Strengthening research capability within the College by mentoring early and mid-career academics, fostering collaboration, and leading high-performing research teams.

  • Strategic influence and engagement: Shaping policy and practice in medical education at institutional, national, and international levels, contributing to accreditation activities and broader sector leadership.

About You

You are an internationally recognised leader in medical education, with the intellectual authority and leadership capability to drive meaningful change. You will bring:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification, with a distinguished record of leadership in teaching and learning at the tertiary level.

  • An internationally recognised and sustained track record of impactful research in medical education, including high-quality publications and success in securing major competitive funding.

  • Extensive experience leading curriculum and program innovation at institutional and/or national and international levels.

  • Deep expertise in contemporary pedagogies, digital learning, and educational technologies, with the ability to lead innovation and inspire excellence in others.

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, program review, and accreditation processes across complex academic environments.

  • The ability to operate with influence across academic, clinical, and policy contexts.
