The Production Supervisor is tasked with overseeing employees within a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include planning and assigning work for shift technicians, implementing established policies and procedures, and recommending enhancements to production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the shift team production technicians execute their daily duties in strict adherence to documented work instructions. This position may necessitate working rotating shifts and requires flexibility to accommodate changes in schedules and shifts as operational needs dictate.

1) Zero Deviation and Stop Work Authority 

This commitment focuses on safety, quality, and adherence to established policies and procedures without exception. It embodies the non-negotiable requirement for immediate intervention when a risk is present.

I. Safety, Risk Management, and Operational Culture

  • Safety Leadership and Culture: Actively champion and enforce a culture of "Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time" through consistent daily words and actions, setting a non-negotiable standard for all personnel.

  • Process Safety Compliance: Mandate and verify the successful completion of Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and strict adherence to the Safe Work Permit (SWP) system for all required activities.

  • Emergency Response (ER) Leadership: Serve as the leader for the internal Emergency Response (ER) team, ensuring readiness, effective coordination, and execution of emergency procedures.

  • Holistic Optimization: Execute daily management by effectively balancing competing priorities—specifically, quality, productivity, manpower, cost, safety, and morale—to ensure positive, integrated results in all operational areas.

II. Quality Assurance, Troubleshooting, and Continuous Improvement

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead and conduct thorough investigations into the root causes of all reported contamination, troubleshooting, and Quality Investigation Report (QIR) issues.

  • Non-Conformance Resolution: Take ownership of and promptly resolve all documented non-conformance issues directly relating to the Production Department.

III. Compliance, Training, and Duty Execution

  • Policy and Procedure Adherence: Resp for implementing and enforcing all established company policies and operational procedures without deviation.

  • Training and Competency: Ensure successful and timely completion of all required mandatory training and certifications.

  • Assigned Duties: Fulfill all other duties as assigned by management, with specific focus on those responsibilities pertaining to the maintenance of safety and compliance standards.
     

2) Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement 

I. Production Supervision and Planning

  • Team Leadership: Directly supervise a group of technicians dedicated to the Diborane production and mixing processes at the ALAM Singapore facility.

  • Workforce Planning: Assume full responsibility for the strategic planning and tactical assignment of daily work to the production team.

  • Schedule Management: Oversee daily production requirements for all production personnel.

  • Departmental Priorities: Manage and align departmental priorities to ensure all production activities meet established plant schedules and output targets.

II. Efficiency, Optimization, and Continuous Improvement

  • Performance Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by recommending and implementing enhancements across multiple operational domains, specifically focusing on safety, production methods, equipment performance, operating procedures, and overall working conditions.

  • Operational Excellence Commitment: Center all activities on the commitment to efficiency, optimization, and striving for superior results in production, inventory management, and overall plant performance.

  • Skill and Capability Development: Actively work to improve working conditions (safety, quality, and productivity) while concurrently increasing the technical skills and overall capabilities of subordinates.

  • Holistic Optimization: Sustain positive, integrated results by effectively balancing competing operational priorities—quality, productivity, manpower, cost, safety, and morale—and working toward continuous improvement in every area.

III. Inventory and Equipment Management

  • Inventory Control: Maintain optimal and proper inventory levels for all necessary materials, including finished products, raw materials, and manufacturing supplies.
     

3) Documentation and People Development 

I. Human Capital Management and Employee Relations

  • Team Development and Leadership: Demonstrate a comprehensive commitment to team development by actively coaching, coordinating training programs, and validating employee competency.

  • Employment Decisions and Conflict Resolution: Manage critical employee lifecycle decisions, including hiring, performance management, and termination (employment decisions). Resolve complex employee issues proactively through structured problem-resolution processes to ensure effective employee relations.

  • Coaching and Development: Provide continuous employee coaching and development to enhance individual performance, career progression, and overall team capability.

II. Training, Qualification, and Competency Assurance

  • Departmental Training Management: Manage and prioritize departmental training programs to ensure alignment with production demands and plant scheduling requirements.

  • New Hire and Cross-Training Oversight: Oversee the structured training of new personnel on core production systems and facilitate functional cross-training to build workforce flexibility and resilience.

  • Procedure-Based Instruction: Directly conduct and supervise the training of production personnel, ensuring all job functions are taught strictly according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Work Instruction (WI) and product specifications.

  • Competency and Safety Qualification: Rigorously evaluate employee performance in tasks requiring formal qualification to definitively assess competency and assure employees can perform all tasks safely and correctly.

  • Unsupervised Work Restriction: Ensure that personnel do not engage in unsupervised work until their complete training and qualification process has been formally documented and completed.
     

III. Documentation Control and Reporting

SOP and Documentation Maintenance: Responsible for highlighting any Standard Operating Procedures that do not represent actual practice on the manufacturing for all production activities.

Are you a MATCH?

1. At least a Diploma, preferably in Chemical Process Technology or equivalent qualification.
2. Minimum of 3+ years experience in process, production, or project engineering, preferably within high purity specialty chemicals, food, nuclear, semiconductor or pharmaceutical plant operations.
3. Fluency in written and verbal communication in English.
