Job Summary

Delaware Basin Overview

We hold approximately 792,000 unconventional net acres in the Delaware Basin, spanning west Texas through southeast New Mexico. Current development activity targets prospects in the Avalon, Bone Springs and Wolfcamp formations while balancing leasehold obligations and permit terms. We operated ten rigs and two frac crews on average during 2024, resulting in 166 operated wells drilled and 151 operated wells brought online.

The company began exploring and appraising the basin’s stacked pay potential in 2012 and has gained extensive technical expertise to optimize development. At the beginning of 2024, the company operated over 2,800 producing wells throughout the Basin.

In 2024, net production averaged 593 MBOED.

Position Overview

As a Production Specialist in our Delaware Basin operations, you’ll serve as a field leader and mentor, supporting multi-skilled operators (MSOs) and optimizing production across both downhole and surface operations. You’ll act as a liaison between Operations and technical support teams, drive continuous improvement, and promote safety and efficiency in all aspects of production.

This role is ideal for a seasoned field professional who enjoys mentoring, problem-solving, and collaborating across disciplines.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Represent Operations in project activities and communicate field needs to support teams

  • Provide technical support for beam pump designs, downhole configurations, and fluid level analysis

  • Ensure MSOs are trained according to curriculum and address ongoing technical development needs

  • Monitor well performance using tools such as XSPOC, Cygnet, and Avocet

  • Support production optimization through lease reviews, chemical meetings, and fractional flow reserve (FFR) analysis

  • Lead or assist in pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) and commissioning of wells and facilities

  • Promote safety leadership through stand-downs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) development, and adherence to ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT values

  • Troubleshoot operational issues and support minor equipment repairs

  • Monitor and validate production data using electronic data gathering systems

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop pre-pull recommendations and optimization strategies

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Current/Valid driver’s license

  • 5 or more years of experience in upstream field operations

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in PSSR and Management of Change (MOC) processes

  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to safely perform and comply with all of the following tasks:

    • Work in temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions

    • Travel across multiple geographic locations daily

    • Work both in and out of a company-provided vehicle

    • Wear appropriate safety equipment (PPE)

    • Climb heights up to 24 feet to gauge tanks

    • Perform physical tasks including walking, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and using hand tools

    • Work weekend and be on call

  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel up to 10% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS O365

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in SAP

  • Intermediate level proficiency with field tools such as XSPOC, Cygnet, Rod Star, and/or XBALANCE

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of oil and gas operations, project workflows, and regulatory requirements

  • Previous experience mentoring others and promoting team development

  • Ability to analyze production and financial data, prepare reports, and follow instructions

  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right

  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals

  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
