We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Production Planner – Ramp & NPI to support Lumentum’s global high-precision manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing build plans, ensuring material readiness, coordinating cross-functional execution, and driving disciplined planning for new product introduction (NPI), engineering builds, and production ramp activities. The Production Planner ensures on-time build delivery, stable production flow, and strong communication across global planning, operations, engineering, supply chain, and program management teams.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for NPI builds, engineering builds, pilot runs, and production ramp activities.
Translate engineering and program requirements into feasible build plans aligned with capacity, materials, and operational priorities.
Review MRP requirements, validate demand signals, and ensure timely availability of materials for NPI and ramp builds.
Coordinate with Buyers, Global Supply Chain, and suppliers to secure material commitments, expedite shortages, and resolve supply gaps.
Lead build readiness reviews (BRR) and ensure all prerequisites—materials, tooling, test capacity, documentation, ECO releases—are in place before build execution.
Track daily build progress, monitor WIP status, and address risks or delays with timely communication to stakeholders.
Collaborate with NPI Program Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, SQE, and Global Planning teams to align build priorities and manage ECO or design changes.
Support production ramp readiness by validating equipment capacity, manpower, test capability, and supporting resources.
Identify constraints across supply, capacity, or process flow and coordinate recovery plans to ensure on-time delivery.
Maintain accurate planning parameters (lead time, safety stock, lot size, planning attributes) to support effective MRP and planning accuracy.
Generate build status reports, schedule adherence metrics, and material readiness summaries for local and global stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, communication, data discipline, and operational coordination.
Ensure compliance with Lumentum’s planning standards, NPI governance, build control processes, and documentation requirements.
Perform additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 8 years of experience in production planning, NPI planning, material planning, or supply chain roles within high-tech manufacturing.
Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Oracle preferred), BOM structures, and ECO/change management processes.
Experience supporting NPI builds, engineering builds, and ramp-to-volume transitions in a global manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify risks early, and propose effective mitigation actions.
Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional and cross-site teams.
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting; experience with planning dashboards or analytics tools is a plus.
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with global partners.
