Production Manufacturing Engineer
Dupont Tedlar® is looking for Production Manufacturing Engineer at our Buffalo, NY site to serve as a vital resource for operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low-cost, quality products. The Production Manufacturing Engineer provides technical support for process safety, improved yield, capacity, and uptime performance. In addition, the Production Engineer supports capital execution of process technology changes; maintains process technology documents; supports day-to-day operations, and assists in safety, quality, and environmental incident investigations. With sufficient training and experience, the successful candidate will serve as a first responder to assist with plant technical issues when troubleshooting processes or equipment issues are required.
Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:
- Possess a strong sense of ownership and are accountable for the success and failure of their assigned unit.
- Show courageous leadership by coaching, asking questions, and intervening when needed.
- Challenge the status quo and past norms to make the operation more effective and safer.
- Lead by influence and role model the professionalism and behaviors expected in the plant. Your actions effect the culture of the plant.
- Rapidly apply continuous improvement tools to accelerate profitability and low-cost service of the facility.
- Understand customer needs and drive high levels of quality, responsiveness, and reliability for the customer.
- Elevate and appropriately apply knowledge of their plant and technology – study historical data, convene with other Subject Mater Experts (SMEs), etc.
- Partner with the experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve operating discipline. Diagnose and document root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.
- Understand why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keep a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.
- Conduct daily review of the logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities. Maintain, own, and review daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)/trends to ensure optimum performance and readiness of your assigned area.
- Works with Supply Chain and Production Planning to optimize production schedules.
- Convert business plan into the daily operating plan.
- Respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies. Act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drive implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency, which may include yield or waste generation.
- Ensure compliance with plant operating permits.
- Understand site integration and provide input to optimize the overall system
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering
- 1-5 years of Manufacturing or related experience
- Lean/Six Sigma experience beneficial
- Continuous Improvement beneficial
