The Production Assistant is responsible for learning the Computer Graphics program (Xpression) and cross-training on Audio, for the purpose of filling in on that position. They are also sometimes responsible for studio-related duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Trains on, and is able to competently run, the Xpression graphics program, as well as production audio, during live news broadcasts.
- Fills in for sick or vacationing coworkers in these two positions when needed.
- Communicates with Production crew and News talent during broadcasts.
- Maintains studio cleanliness, including vacuuming and wiping down sets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Skills:
- Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Flexible schedule, mostly needed for early mornings, but may be needed for some holidays and weekends.
- Basic knowledge of the workings of a television studio, as it pertains to live broadcasting of news and lifestyle programs.
- Basic proficiency with computers.
- Basic knowledge of Photoshop preferred.
- Experience with broadcast-related equipment preferred.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Schedule and Compensation:
This position is full-time, and the schedule runs weekday mornings, 3:30 am to 11:30 am. However, there may be times when holidays or weekends are required for the purpose of filling in. The pay starts at $15.00/hr.
