We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Tax Specialist to join our dynamic team in Europe, reporting to the Head of Product Tax for Europe.
This role will support driving our European tax strategy, managing the day-to-day tax affairs and providing ongoing business support in relation to the European product range. This role requires strong advisory skills, strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement to manage tax risks, enhance processes, enable projects and ensure compliance.
In this role you will
Assess and communicate tax risks and obligations throughout the lifecycle of fund products, including launch, ongoing management, and closure
Partner with key business areas to proactively manage tax risks in alignment with group policy and business objectives
Provide tax technical input for new product launches, distribution strategies, and a variety of asset types across European markets
Review and advise on the tax aspects of product documentation, agreements and investor communications
Support investor tax reporting obligations by providing technical input and continuously assessing the impact of business change on reporting requirements
Oversee and review CT600 fund tax returns and associated deliverables / filings
Monitor withholding tax positions, manage reclaim and relief at source processes, and ensure timely updates to withholding tax rates
Provide tax technical input to assess and address the impact of market changes on the European product range
Maintain technical knowledge of product tax issues, legislative updates, and industry best practices
Provide support across a broad range of tax-related projects and initiatives, contributing expertise and resource flexibility as needed to meet evolving business priorities
What it takes
Chartered Accountant (ACA) or Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), with relevant asset management tax or accounting experience
Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software (Microsoft Excel and Office) and tax research databases (e.g. BBH Worldview, EY GWTR)
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to use own initiative to assess and prioritise effectively with the ability to work quickly and independently, with attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines
Confident in reaching out for further clarification where required, willing to take on new areas of responsibility outside of previous experience
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation, and problem solving skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and associate level personnel
