Role: Product Specialist – Spectroscopy (Atomic & Molecular)

Territory: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Puducherry
Purpose: Deliver trusted answers to customers by driving adoption of Agilent’s Spectroscopy technologies, increasing regional market share, and operating in alignment with Agilent values and a growth mindset.

Role Summary

The Product Specialist for Spectroscopy is responsible for accelerating business growth and expanding Agilent’s market share in the Spectroscopy segment across South India. This role partners closely with regional business managers, sales teams, channel partners, and technical experts to strengthen market coverage, elevate technical capability, and maximize customer value throughout the customer lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic & Business Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a compelling Spectroscopy business plan for the region.
  • Increase Agilent’s market share in the Spectroscopy business through targeted initiatives and competitive wins.
  • Drive annual business growth targets in alignment with regional and BU strategies.
  • Promote Agilent’s integrated solution approach to deliver holistic workflow value.
  • Enable and train sales, marketing, and technical teams to build regional capability.
  • Maintain high standards of operational discipline and accurate funnel management.

2. Detailed Operational Responsibilities

A. Pre‑Sales Activities

  • Provide high‑quality technical advice to customers, sales teams, and channel partners.
  • Participate in customer discussions to guide technique selection and workflow optimization.
  • Conduct seminars, workshops, technical presentations, and market‑focused events.
  • Support new product introductions and early‑market development.

B. Sales Cycle Support

  • Co‑create deal strategy with sales based on strong technical differentiation.
  • Provide technical content, data, and insights needed to advance opportunities.
  • Lead demo planning and sample analysis activities with Application Scientists.
  • Support technical closure of deals with clarity and confidence.

C. Ongoing & Post‑Sales Responsibilities

  • Work closely with existing users to strengthen Customer Lifetime Value and ensure long‑term satisfaction.
  • Build strong post‑sales engagement through application support, periodic reviews, and proactive relationship management.
  • Identify, develop, and nurture Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in academia, industry, and government institutions to strengthen Agilent’s ecosystem influence.
  • Track and analyze business data: funnel, win/loss, installed base, and competition.
  • Provide structured competitive intelligence updates to the field and business unit.
  • Conduct periodic market analysis to identify growth drivers, application needs, and white‑space opportunities.
  • Leverage business tools and software platforms for data‑driven discussions and decision‑making.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong technical understanding of Atomic and/or Molecular Spectroscopy.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a closely related scientific discipline.

  • Product Expertise:
    Extensive hands‑on experience with major Spectroscopy platforms including:
    AAS, ICP‑OES, ICP‑MS, FTIR, UV‑Vis, Raman, and Chemical Imaging systems.

  • Industry / Application Knowledge:
    Strong application background in one or more domains such as Food Testing, Environmental Analysis, Forensics, Chemical & Materials, or Life Sciences Research.

  • Commercial & Selling Skills:
    Proven business development capability with solid experience in sales processes, technical selling, deal progression, and closing skills.
