Are you crazy about quality? Do you love working troubleshooting and continuously improving process and products? Axon is looking for a self-motivated Quality Engineer II that is hungry to show their talents in the video and public safety industry.

As Axon’s Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the product quality from development to post market of our assigned product. Set up testing and analyze Video and CEW hardware to ensure quality and safety is maintained. You will set up test cases, develop scenarios, report issues, and diagnose technical problems. Test cases may be conducted in multiple environments to assure that the product can stand up to everyday use.

You will communicate your findings with Axon team members such as product managers, developers, and system engineers. You will review technical drawings and build incoming, in-process and outgoing inspection plans for new products. Additionally, you will review first article inspection reports and process capability data from suppliers before approving materials to ship to Axon.

What You’ll Do 


Location: Onsite at our Scottsdale, Arizona office, Weekends

Reports to: Manager, Quality Engineering

  • Will follow the Axon Product Lifecycle (APL) to comply with the quality deliverables which include but are not limited to issue management and resolution (CAPA), FAIR/CPK approvals, validation plan implementation and completion, development of critical to quality (CTQs) attributes and implementation of monitoring at incoming, in-process and outgoing quality inspections.
  • Lead MRB material disposition activities
  • Manage 8D and RCA teams to perform corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) from internal and external sources (RMA). 
  • Create First Article Inspection Plans (FAIR) and production part approvals (PPAP)
  • Effectively manage the Acceptable Quality Limits (AQL) sampling plans for incoming, in-process and outgoing quality
  • Provide engineering support to incoming quality control (IQC) including statistical analysis, measurement systems analysis, Gage R&R studies, and inspection procedures
  • Perform quality system audits and layered process audits (LPAs)
  • Lead teams in identification of risks/hazards relative to new product designs, processes, suppliers and applications. New, Unique, Different, Difficult assessments (NUDD)
  • Lead launch quality activities like Early Field Failure Analysis (EFFA)
  • Perform validation through process controls and assist in new and improved plans for the functionality of the products and services offered by Axon
  • Provide the tools, methodologies, techniques, and technical insight to introduce improvements of electronic processing.
  • Effectively communicate appropriate details in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment to meet internal and external customer demands.
  • Utilize statistical techniques and professional independent judgment to analyze data for process improvement.
  • Develop and lead execution of process validations and tests; analyze resulting data and document results (protocols/reports).
  • Effectively Join Forces with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ‘Own It’ mentality to work autonomously and manage time effectively.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Quality or similar)
  • 5+ years of plant operations and/or quality experience with proven success delivering significant measurable improvements
  • Knowledge of configuration management and product release to market processes 
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) or equivalent process evaluation and improvement knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge and experience using IPC 610-A standards required; Internal/External Auditing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Minitab, JMP; other statistical software considered
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, procedures and standards
  • Excellent written, oral communication and technical report writing skills
