The Opportunity

The Product Owner “PO”; Portfolio Management Technology, will drive the delivery of Fidelity Private Wealth and Wealth’s Portfolio Management Systems with the goal of enabling efficient business functionality, driving high development efficiency and building the product roadmap. With this mandate, the PO owns the product backlog to deliver features and enhancements that achieve those goals.

What You Will Do

Planning & Delivery

  • Representing the business units’ priorities to deliver software solutions for our Portfolio Management technology

  • Setting vision and direction for our Portfolio Management technology

  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize epics, stories and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy

  • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog to ensure there is a clear vision and healthy backlog

  • Lead definition of functional requirements for Business Analyst to ensure that user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting analysis documentation accurately reflect expected system outcomes.

  • Oversee all stages of product creation including design and development, monitoring progress at each stage

  • Work collaboratively with Scrum Master to plan and lead agile ceremonies such as backlog planning, backlog grooming, quarterly and sprint (and release) planning. Incorporate agile practices into vendor-managed delivery cycles.

Collaborating with business partners and users

  • Developing relationships cross functionally (Technology, product solutions group, compliance, operations) to fully understand and deliver on user requirements

  • Act as primary liaison with system vendor to assess 3rd party system capabilities, discover best practices or optimal solutions, improve vendor collaboration on product roadmap vision, prioritization and timeliness of delivery.

  • Partner with Solution and Data Architects to ensure solutions are scalable and well integrated across Wealth system architecture.

  • Ensure product design has sufficient controls with a focus on compliance requirements.

  • Regular touchpoints with above business partners, to intake new requirements, communicate status of existing requirements, communicate/ train on implementations

  • Documenting processes and enabling reviews with above business partners for delivered user requirements

Lead systems enhancement change management and planning

  • Facilitate discussions between business departments & technology to identify business requirements, testing needs and implementation timelines

  • Organize departmental and/or divisional communication

  • Coordinate updating relevant training materials and job aids

What you Need

  • In-depth knowledge of Agile product management processes and principles

  • Ability to understand user/business needs and translate strategic objectives into actions (background supporting portfolio management tools/portfolio management is preferred)

  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with cross divisional teams, senior management, and internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both written and oral

  • Ability to develop a vision for product features and break them into clear and concise epics and stories with well-define business value and acceptance criteria

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Capacity to lead, influence and motivate without formal authority, while removing blockers to progress

  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Excel)

  • Deep understanding of Wealth Management business processes, including investment model construction, order management / trading, compliance and reporting

  • Strong grasp of investment operations from trade to settlement to reconciliation.

  • Strong preference: expertise with portfolio / order management systems.

  • Vendor management acumen: ability to collaborate and oversee 3rd party deliverables.

 What We’re Looking For

  • Undergraduate university degree, or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years working experience in agile product management environment as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or equivalent role.

  • Agile product management and experience in wealth management, specifically on the portfolio management side - trading execution or trading technology experience creating agile product roadmaps, backlogs, business case development and ROI reporting is advantageous

  • Experience in vendor evaluation or selection process - defining criteria, RFI and RFP assessments.

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Product Owner Certification is a must have

  • Designations/courses such as CFA, CIM CSC, PMP is an asset
