We are looking for a Product Owner with a strong focus on digitization and automation of business processes to drive the evolution of digital products and platforms within an Agile environment.
The Product Owner acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and delivery teams, ensuring that processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business objectives while delivering continuous value and customer experience to clients. As part of the COO Delivery organization, your responsibility is to analyze key client processes within the COO Domain and support the design and deliver of the optimal digital solution for this process, sometimes within the COO Delivery area, but many times in other Tribes across ING with which you will work closely. We are looking for an entrepreneurial can-do mindset, creative in finding solutions based on a data-driven approach.
The position requires excellent analytical skills and problem-solving approach, passion for detail and optimization, ability to work and maintain composure under tight deadlines, as well as strong stakeholder management.
This position also demands ability to work collaboratively in multi-functional teams and cross-domains.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Agile Delivery
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is clearly prioritized, refined, and aligned with strategic goals
- Translate business needs and process requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements
- Collaborate closely with Agile teams to support sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Act as the single point of accountability for product decisions related to scope, priorities, and value delivery
Process & Digital Solution Focus
- Analyze, design, and optimize end-to-end business processes and workflows, identifying inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Ensure workflows are customer-centric, compliant, and operationally efficient
- Drive standardization and simplification of processes across systems and teams
- Design and drive the delivery of digital solutions that optimize scalability
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with business stakeholders, operations, IT, and compliance to gather requirements and align expectations
- Facilitate workshops and discussions to define process flows, user journeys, and functional needs
- Communicate roadmap progress, dependencies, and impacts in a clear and structured way
Value & Continuous Improvement
- Define and monitor KPIs and success metrics related to process automation, efficiency, quality, and user satisfaction
- Support continuous improvement by incorporating feedback, data insights, and lessons learned
- Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term process scalability and sustainability
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Product Owner in an Agile environment
- Strong background in process analysis, workflow design, business analysis, digitization and automation
- Ability to translate complex processes into clear, actionable user stories
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (business, IT, operations)
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and end-to-end thinking
- Background in regulated or complex environments (e.g., banking, insurance, telecom, healthcare)
- Experience with customer journey mapping and service design
- Master’s degree, postgraduate or equivalent background in Economics, Management Engineering and similar is desirable.
- 5+ years of experience in banking or financial services, with focus on Business Analyst roles, (black belt or Operational management are considered a plus).
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for delivering maximum results
- Solid experience of working autonomously in a dynamic and collaborative environment, identifying new potential opportunities and improvements
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise presentations, papers, user stories and interact directly with stakeholders
- Strong problem solver and ability to make effective decisions
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience of dissecting performance and working data, translating results to optimal solutions
- Excellent level of English
- Extremely customer focused
- Ability to work on an international level
