Job Description:

Department Overview: 

TD Merchant Solutions (TDMS) is a unique business within Business Banking at the forefront of many emerging trends in the financial industry, such as e-commerce, payments innovation, and strategic partnerships. TDMS provides reliable, flexible and easy to use e-commerce and Point of Sale (POS) card payment solutions to small business, commercial, and corporate clients. TDMS is the only Canadian fully bank-owned and operated merchant acquirer, managing all debit and credit card transactions for our merchants from authorization through to clearing and settlement. This end to end capability is a competitive advantage for TD, uniquely enabling the bank to meet more of the financial needs of our Business Banking clients.

Job Description: 

Reporting to the AVP Product & Partnerships, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Merchant Solutions Digital Commerce team. The incumbent will play a critical role executing on our strategy to deliver solutions for Merchants to succeed. This will include delivering a more end to end sales and relationship management experience, owning significant partner relationships, and driving growth of our fully franchised customer base.

 
Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, commercialize and market Digital Products to drive profitable growth, increase market share and improve customer experience.
  • Develop and execute the product vision, life cycle, go to market strategies and road map for Digital Commerce, working with Cards and Business Banking Product teams & Leadership.
  • Align with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog, managing delivery blockers, continuously assessing customer feedback.
  • Develop strategies and processes to drive Sales upskilling for the Digital Commerce product offering.
  • People leadership of the Digital Commerce product team, overseeing strategies to attract, develop, motivate and retain a highly qualified team.
  • Develop & maintain a robust understanding of the acquirer Digital Commerce industry & market segments, Merchant insights and foresights, to deliver product & process innovation
  • Own the third-party Digital Commerce partnership strategy and negotiate, build and manage relationships.
  • Create, support & deliver business cases to achieve TDMS Digital Commerce strategic goals.
  • Align with TD Digital strategies & develop collaborative payment solution and eco-system within the Bank.
  • Manage the Digital Commerce P&L to deliver financial results for the product suite via operation of all available levers: pricing, margin, volume, market share etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and guidelines.

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Experience developing and executing on strategies and delivering measurable results in both the short and long term, and demonstrating end-to-end ownership
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills – ability to understand complex interactions and distill into simplified messaging/solutions
  • Excellent relationship management skills, effectively supporting multiple complex relationships with a superior ability to make things happen through the use of positive influence
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse group of professionals
  • Proven financial and business acumen
  • Undergraduate degree and / or product certificate
  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • 5+ years Product Owner or Agile related delivery experience
  • Project management experience considered an asset
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications or experience operating in scaled agile delivery considered an asset
