The Opportunity
 

Roche Diagnostics in Midrand is seeking a Product Manager - Near Patient Care (NPC) to join our team. As a Product Manager - NPC you will develop, communicate and implement the ideal product strategy for Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) in sub-region Africa, taking into account market intelligence and trends, in order to secure optimum positioning, profitability and growth. You will work with external partners and stakeholders to form strategic alliances for maximum market penetration. Additionally, you will specifically plan and co-ordinate the launch phasing in countries, and develop the road map for CGM expansion on the continent. Your role is to be a key liaison with global CGM contacts to secure optical product specifics which match market needs.

Key Challenges

Marketing Coordination and Activities

  • Ensure pan-African implementation of CGM marketing is in line with strategy and focus.

  • Ensure feedback from regions to improve marketing approaches locally, remaining relevant to market dynamics and influences.

  • Coordination of business planning for CGM

  • Approval of regional marketing materials on Brandbox or similar marketing materials approval platform.

  • Key communication and collaboration partner to global product leaders

  • Develop CGM strategy with global and regional experts and manage sub-regional requests and lobbying

  • Ensure market readiness to launch CGM in selected countries

  • Work with sub-chapter product managers to ensure CGM activities support NPC objectives and marketing plans

Product Strategy

  • To contribute to the development of the product marketing plan for CGM, by managing the product life cycle, collaborating with relevant departments, gathering information, aligning with corporate objectives and implementing as required.

  • To generate and implement new business concepts aimed at supporting and growing specific product sales by gathering information, analyzing data and submitting for approval as required

  • To respond timeously to market dynamics by tracking trends, identifying risks and opportunities, developing proactive solutions and implementing in time to minimize risks and optimize opportunities

  • To achieve the targeted product positioning, product life cycle, pricing, promotional and profitability strategies in line with set targets by contributing to the assigned portfolio the marketing, product promotion and brand awareness plans and supporting activities or interventions for each product within the specified portfolio as required
     

Product Communication and Implementation

  • To disperse product specific information to the relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to support the various business processes (promotional materials and communication) by identifying appropriate platforms, aligning with internal team and distributing as agreed

  • To implement training on product specific information by preparing the materials, conducting the training with the sales team, providing oversight and support to the sales team for training roll out and to track roll out of the training and feedback as required

  • To coordinate the internal knowledge sharing and notification on any product issues or developments identified by gathering information, drafting communication and distributing as required

  • To manage all marketing, promotional (incl. budget) and pricing related issues for each product by receiving information, aligning with relevant teams, providing inputs and implementing when approved and as agreed

  • To provide marketing support (promotional materials, strategy, etc.) and advice to the Sales department in order to achieve the specific sales targets set for the various products by receiving requests and providing information/detail aids as required

  • To maintain accurate understanding and knowledge of market trends and competitor activities by sharing and receiving information from various internal and external stakeholders on an ongoing basis

  • To monitor the effectiveness and appropriateness of the marketing plan and on-going achievement of the set sales targets by interacting and liaising with the Sales Manager and Sales Representatives, gathering feedback, interpreting and amending plan as required

  • To implement product tactics (such as workshops, conferences, marketing events etc.) in conjunction with the Sales teams by participating in brainstorming, leading the planning and managing the roll out of the product tactics activities as required.

  • To manage the Advertising Agency or similar by providing latest product information, briefing updates and enhancements, defining delivery deadlines and coordinating that deliverables are received as budgeted, specified and within deadline

  • To track the effectiveness of marketing plan implementation by conducting regular customer feedback evaluations on product applications, evaluating the feedback and providing information to the relevant internal, global structures and / or customers as required

  • To draft reports by collecting required information, drafting the inputs and submitting for discussion monthly

Demand Planning

  • To complete ongoing life cycle product management (e.g. forecasting, phase in / phase out, evaluations etc.) by coordinating and liaising with Medical, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Finance and Technical departments to understand needs and priorities on an ongoing basis

  • To manage demand planning for products by completing stock level reviews, preparing forecasts communicating with the relevant stakeholders monthly and quarterly

  • To manage bottlenecks and stock-outs by reviewing the report, engaging with Global, identifying solutions and managing the implementation of the solutions with the relevant stakeholder’s weekly

Stakeholder Management

  • To be the commercial contact and/or liaison for Roche Diagnostics with the international Roche group relating to any product specific aspects and market/competitor trends by receiving questions and providing answers as required.

  • To resolve stakeholder queries and complaints related to the specific products by receiving query, referring to relevant departments for input, resolving (when applicable) and providing feedback timeously.

  • To build and maintain a strong network of brand advocates by identifying, developing, educating, conducting discussion groups and building mutually supportive relationships as required

  • To build a strong network and support structure to meet the overall product objectives by maintaining internal relationships with relevant departments at all times.

Cross functional engagement

  • To collaborate with commercial networks, chapters and within near patient care sub-chapter to drive medical marketing and access initiatives that meet the needs of the overall ANCM 10-yr ambition strategy.

Legal and Compliance

  • To manage full compliance and support of the corporate culture and ethics of all product management activities by maintaining expertise, abiding with compliance requirements, managing compliance and communicating legal and compliance requirements at all times.

SHE

  • Comply with SHE rules, standards, regulations set out by Group SHE as well as local affiliate.

  • Participate and complete all assigned SHE training.

Who You Are as an Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and Experience

  • NQF 7/8 in relevant field (Pharma, Life Sciences degree)

  • 4-6 years’ experience in field


Must have knowledge of:

  • Pharmaceutical Industry

  • Sales
     

In the absence of relevant qualifications, experience in the relevant field and at the relevant level will be considered.
